An electronic calculator is typically a portable electronic device used to perform calculations, ranging from basic arithmetic to complex mathematics.
The first solid-state electronic calculator was created in the early 1960s. Pocket-sized devices became available in the 1970s, especially after the Intel 4004, the first microprocessor, was developed by Intel for the Japanese calculator company Busicom. They later became used commonly within the petroleum industry (oil and gas).
Modern electronic calculators vary from cheap, give-away, credit-card-sized models to sturdy desktop models with built-in printers. They became popular in the mid-1970s as the incorporation of integrated circuits reduced their size and cost. By the end of that decade, prices had dropped to the point where a basic calculator was affordable to most and they became common in schools.
Computer operating systems as far back as early Unix have included interactive calculator programs such as dc and hoc, and calculator functions are included in almost all personal digital assistant (PDA) type devices, the exceptions being a few dedicated address book and dictionary devices.
In addition to general purpose calculators, there are those designed for specific markets. For example, there are scientific calculators which include trigonometric and statistical calculations. Some calculators even have the ability to do computer algebra. Graphing calculators can be used to graph functions defined on the real line, or higher-dimensional Euclidean space. As of 2016, basic calculators cost little, but scientific and graphing models tend to cost more.
In 1986, calculators still represented an estimated 41% of the world's general-purpose hardware capacity to compute information. By 2007, this had diminished to less than 0.05%.
Hello!
Is there? I have a propeller fan and I want to know what is the pressure, CFM, speed, etc. based on it's blade length, the number of blades, etc.
I already have a wind turbine generator and I seem can't find one for fans (propeller fan). Or is there a way to find those parameters?
Any...

I don't use a calculator as a crutch, but I would like something that I can fall back on for common equations or problems. If it simplifies radicals I will be overjoyed.
Here's 2 I couldn't get.
8log27
log3x2 = log481/2
Solve for x
For the first one I thought I should solve what's in the exponent first and then solve 8 to that power, but I can't figure out what to do with the exponent.
I'm even more clueless on the second one/ The bases are...
How do I graph an inverse parabola on a calculator? As in a normal parabola but opening to the left or right. Which means its X= instead of Y=.
If this is impossible(I know it is possible to use two separate equations), is there any other way to add more "Y="s on the graphing calculator...
The terminal side of an angle theta in standard position passes through (-2,-3). What is sec theta?
How would you solve this problem without a calculator?
Thanks.
I once had a neat substitute for the Windows calculator that had all sorts of scientific functions, units and scientific constants in a small footprint. That was years ago and now I can't find it right now. I thought it was Moffsoft, but I've just downloaded it again and that's not it. I see a...

Hello everyone :),
I'm sure someone will have no problem helping me with this. How do I figure out large powered numerical values without using a calculator. Kept getting questions involving 2^2007 and others. How would I be able to figure out these values without using a calculator or a...
Hi, I'm trying to do some caculations involving numbers with big differences in their orders of magnitude. Unfortunately, all the cacluclating tools I can find always round off the answers too much to be of any use to me.
For example, if I type 4.5 x 10-12 - (4.5 x 10-12 - 9.2 x 10 -30) I...
Hi,
I'm going to be a college freshman in the fall and I don't own a graphing calculator (I used the school's in high school). I'm planning to major in physics and I am assuming that I should buy one, I'm just not sure which one. Right now the TI-89 titanium seems to be the most...
Hi all,
I am a software developer and wrote this application just for fun

Hopefully I can throw this question in this section, sorry if it should go elsewhere. Seeing as I am studying in engineering, I thought others may have the same calculator and be helpful.
Anyways, I was wondering if there was a way on this calculator to show say 1*_W (unit of watts) in terms...

First I should mention I'm actually going to use this in actionscript (a programming language), but as most people here probably don't know actionscript, I thought a graphing calculator would be a good analogue. I am also using an actual calculator, though, and will from here on regard the...

Hello,
I need a new graphing calculator, as universal as possible. So its not only an ellaborate graphing calculator but offers as many functions as possible and is of quality at the same time.
Go ahead, suggest some. I'll look at all of them.
PS: To give you a better idea of what I'm looking...
i have decided to buy a good TI calculator. The cost isn't really a factor.. since almost all of their calculators come under 349 USD.
My area of work is mostly calculus-based physics and analytical geometry [coordinate geometry]. In mathematics, i'd also be needing features for basic basic...

Keep in mind I'm only starting to get into intermediate algebra.
I'm about to buy a graphing calculator, and I don't know whether to get the Texas Instruments TI-84 (Silver Edition), or the Casio CFX9850GC+ (which has the added frivolity of a colour screen).

Is there any "pencil and paper" method to find the nth root of a number?

But...

Hello, I am EXTREMELY glad I found this forum.

1.I am given a zenith angle of 73 (degrees) 17'30"
2. How do I compute (2360/5280)times cos(73 degrees, 17'30") with a ti 89 and a regular scientific calculator?
3. The solution is .446 degrees
Thank you sooo very much.
The index laws state that a^m x a^n = a^m+n
These means that in the equation 6^3x-12=6^x
6^3x/6^x = 6^2x
but when I solve for x using logs the answer is different to what my calculator gives me. What am I doing wrong?
Hello everyone,
I use a TI-83 Plus and I'd like to know if there is a quick way to convert an angle from radian to degree and vice versa. I am not referring to multiplying by (pi/180) or (180/pi).
Thanks!
Can anyone solve those problems?
