A drive-through or drive-thru (a sensational spelling of the word through), is a type of take-out service provided by a business that allows customers to purchase products without leaving their cars. The format was pioneered in the United States in the 1930s by Jordan Martin, but has since spread to other countries. Hillcrest State Bank, Dallas, Texas, installed the first drive-through banking system in America. It was a George Dahl designed building, constructed in the 1920s, across from SMU. The second recorded use of a bank using a drive-up window teller was the Grand National Bank of St. Louis, Missouri in 1930. The drive-up teller allowed only deposits at that time.Orders are generally placed using a microphone and picked up in person at the window. A drive-through is different from a drive-in in several ways - the cars create a line and move in one direction in drive-throughs, and normally do not park, whereas drive-ins allow cars to park next to each other, the food is generally brought to the window by a server, called a carhop, and the customer can remain in the parked car to eat. However, during peak periods, to keep the queue down and avoid traffic flow problems, drive-throughs occasionally switch to an "order at the window, then park in a designated space" model where the customer will receive their food from an attendant when it is ready to be served. This results in a perceived relationship between the two service models.
Drive-throughs have generally replaced drive-ins in popular culture, and are now found in the vast majority of modern American fast-food chains. Sometimes, a store with a drive-through is referred to as a "drive-through", or the term is attached to the service, such as, "drive-through restaurant". or "drive-through bank".
Drive-throughs typically have signs over the drive-through lanes to show customers which lanes are open for business. The types of signage used is usually illuminated so the "open" message can be changed to a "closed" message when the lane is not available.
Black hole drive in the film "Event Horizon"
Cheesy movie, right? A lot of fun though. For those who don't know, there is a starship in the film called the Event Horizon, which utilizes an artificial black hole drive/engine in order to allow it to fold space, although it's probably more...
I was reading this article today: http://news.yahoo.com/warp-drive-may-more-feasible-thought-scientists-161301109.html
and in it it states this:
How did they come to the figure of 10*C? Is it a matter of energy input to speed output?
I just did a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my system. unfortunately I misplaced the box of CDs with most of my applications. I still have the hard drive where all the apps are installed. is it possible to extract the entire application from the old HD and install it on the new one? I have...
Believe me when I say I've done my thinking and just can't call up my thoughts on why I should doubt myself but I'm sure it will come up, and better yet I'd like to hear some ideas. What's it like, how rewarding is it and why, can you find a job? How much is the average pay? How do you know if...
This is driving me nuts and I'm forced to ask this question.
The Alcubierre FTL drive model had some limitations, so another physicist whose name began with a D or an N, I think, came up with a revised/improved model. Can you please remind me what it's called?
Thanks
Hi everybody!
I've been toying around with ideas for using electricity to propel any type of vehicle - gasoline, diesel, hybrid, or electric. The problem is I am not a Mechanical Engineer. So I'm wondering if anybody can tell me whether a drive system like this may be designed to be practical...

Hello,
This one has been bugging me for a while. When you drive a car past parked cars that are somewhat close, with the window down, there is a rhythmic whooshing sound. This sounds very much like numerous dopplershifts, but I have difficulty seeing it as a doppler shift because the parked...
I have been sex free (masturbation, porn, etc...) for over 200 days now, but recently sexual thoughts have begun creeping into my head again.

Hi everyone,
I have been reading the fascinating paper by Miguel Alcubierre about the warp drive and one thing is confusing me.
He says that the total co-ordinate time is
T= \left[d/v + \sqrt{(D-2d)/a}\right]
Would that mean that the warp bubble is constantly accelerating so its...
I'm sure a lot of you have heard of the warp drive theory. I can't seem to find much on the bubble part, though. In theory, will the bubble be something you can actually see and touch?

Hi everyone,
i'm new here.
i want to know how to clone the hard drive of computer.
which software is the best? i heard about norton ghost but is an alternatives?
And is it possible to find a step by step procedure to do this.

Its in relation to a standard bicycle being driven by a rider

Was cosmic inflation partly driven by the quantum degeneracy pressure of the quarks and electrons?

I have uploaded the journals which related to the brushless dc motor. I encountered the problems as i don't know how to simulate the voltage source inverter of the Brushless dc motor system (the generation of inverter line to line voltages) and the hysteresis current block. i really need help...

firstly it is supposed to travel at the speed of light and not FTL right? That is the limit to gravitational waves as well right?
And what are present problems on it?
In order to operate, nixie tubes need 170 VDC. I know that the mains voltage is 120 VAC-RMS. So if you account for the RMS value, 120*1.414 is nearly exactly 170 V. So would it be possible to make a full wave rectifier?
I decided to simulate the circuit in spice. If I use a 500 uF capacitor...

Hi all, I have a question with regards to why should we use an ac-dc, dc -dc, dc-ac converter to an ac drive? Why not connect an ac source through a transformer directly to the ac drive? Isn't it the same? What equations can prove that the use of converter is a better choice?
This is not a perpetual motion machine; the fusion power plant will run out of nuclear power to provide electricity to power it; and this type of transit drive works in theory by having two combustion chambers positioned parallel to the spacecraft 's width and perpendicular to its length. Each...
