Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) (also known as Enhanced GPRS (EGPRS), IMT Single Carrier (IMT-SC), or Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution) is a digital mobile phone technology that allows improved data transmission rates as a backward-compatible extension of GSM. EDGE is considered a pre-3G radio technology and is part of ITU's 3G definition. EDGE was deployed on GSM networks beginning in 2003 – initially by Cingular (now AT&T) in the United States.EDGE is standardized also by 3GPP as part of the GSM family. A variant, so called Compact-EDGE, was developed for use in a portion of Digital AMPS network spectrum.Through the introduction of sophisticated methods of coding and transmitting data, EDGE delivers higher bit-rates per radio channel, resulting in a threefold increase in capacity and performance compared with an ordinary GSM/GPRS connection.
EDGE can be used for any packet switched application, such as an Internet connection.
Evolved EDGE continues in Release 7 of the 3GPP standard providing reduced latency and more than doubled performance e.g. to complement High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA). Peak bit-rates of up to 1 Mbit/s and typical bit-rates of 400 kbit/s can be expected.
Hey,
when using the boundary layer tool in Gambit to mesh the near wall region of an aerofoil I experience problems at the trailing edge.
The x-direction size of the first cell downstream of the trailing edge appears to be equal to the y-direction cell size along the surface. For y+<5, the...
I'm having a hard time finding some documentation on the thickness of a knife edge. I need to calculate the force to slice an apple. I found the skin bursting strength to be 1.1 MPa. That means that assuming the thickness blade to be 10.0 micro-meters and the max length of contact with the...
Hey all
As is my way I pondered what would happen to light (and other emr) when it reaches the edge of the universe.
First one must assume the universe has an edge.
Anyways I figured there is possibly two cases
1./ The universe is expanding at the speed of light so nothing ever...

I'm going to apologize up front for the long post, but I haven't found a better forum than this to ask questions in.

Hello, recently I was listening to a radio talk given by Professor Brian Greene. I have always been able to understand him in his books, but on this particular occasion, he said something that I couldn't quite understand. He said that there is no edge to space, only an edge to time. If the...
The answer, I am told, is 'No'. But I do not understand why. Assume:
(1) The Universe is spatially flat. It will one day stop expanding.
(2) There is no weird dark energy.
These are, I think, plausible assumptions.
Then: What evidence is there to weigh against the conclusion that...

I was just wondering, how long would it take to travel from Earth to the edge of our solor system if we were traveling at the speed of light? and how long would it take to get from Earth to the furthest we can see into space at the moment?
Does anyone have an idea as to the relative abundance of each of these types? Why will one type occur over the other in a given situation?
Thanks,

Since the outer boundry(s) of our expanding universe are moving at a less than the speed of light rate there must be light waves generated in our universe that travel to the limits of our expanding universe and reach the "edge" of it. What takes place when they reach this edge? Can they "bust...

Please help me answer my son's question:
It seems as though the outside edge of a spinning CD is moving faster than the middle of a CD. This can't be true, right? Why is it not true mathematically speaking?
Thank you.
