Spy Kids is an American spy adventure comedy family film series created by Robert Rodriguez. The main series follows the adventures of Carmen and Juni Cortez, two children who become involved in their parents' espionage. The rest of their family are spies as well, including their maternal grandparents, and estranged uncle Machete. The films tend to have a strong Latino theme, as Rodriguez is of Mexican descent.
I think I made a post about this in random thoughts but thought it might make a good thread.
About a month ago we had my sister and her family visiting. At that time I presented a challenge to the kids - ages ~ 10, 12, and 13 - that they seem to have taken to heart. I gave them my first book...
Hi Guys,
I thought I'd ask the experts. I have a kids Powerwheels toy that I would like to add more voltage to. The vehicle is setup with 24v stock and I would like to add another 6v bringing it up to 30v. I not really sure the motherboard can take the additional voltage. Would it be safe...
How can they even consider this when all sorts of child abuse/endangerment is allowed under the guise of "religious beliefs"?

I was pleased the day I found my kid was taking physics - until I found how woefully unprepared ALL the kids were and how the entire course was dummied down to fit a mathematically immature age.
How are they to even begin to understand kinematics, when they have NO modicum of a gleaming upon...
First off, hi everyone! This is my first post because I just found these forums (by Googling "Physics forums" in hopes of finding a good forum to ask science questions, specifically physics!). Anyway, I received a text message from a friend who is a teacher in grade school and was not sure how...
This was on the local news last night and CNN has picked it up. Pretty cool. The clip on WABI was a bit longer, and Bussiere explained that he has gotten help from Lucas' special effects studio with the provision that he use the replica for charity work, not commercial appearances...
Here's a good way to help children understand the stock market: play a game. Write out cards that say STOCK. Make enough cards for each player. Pass out fake money to each player. Get dice out and decide which face values correspond to how much money will be spent on a stock. Make sure the...
When you shrink down humans isometrically to a 1/4 of an inch, what happens to how their voices are perceived by regular size humans?
Also, would the shrunk humans have different hearing abilities at this small scale?
wouldn't it be apocalyptic if this idea catches on & spreads across the country? everybody (on this site anyway) knows this guy is mental right? he said a lot of homework is "busy-work," especially what he said about math. according to him, once someone does the first few problems & gets the...
Here Comes Science--Music for Kids
The band They Might be Giants just released their 3rd CD/DVD collection written for kids. This one is titled "http://tmbw.net/wiki/Here_Comes_Science" ." All together, these releases might just be be the most significant set of music/videos since...
Follow my lead, let's make a list of things you thought as a kid or kids think about when they imagine being older that are sooooo not true. You'll get the hang of it.
100. Adults don't have bed times.
99. Being independent and on your own is awesome
98. Driving is fun
97. Turning 18 means...
In a Wikipedia article about Thomas Friedman's "The World Is Flat"
Why do you think this is so? Why has the American youth decided to abandon these fields?
Hello folks,
This may seem out of topic but I would like to know how to perfect my skills in tutoring high school kids. Just a little introduction. I am a third year Biochemistry student here in Canada and I teach my students Chemistry and Math.
Why I am asking the question is that when I...
Introduction
Hi folks,
After spending a few years in the army, I decided to go back to college and finish up my BS in Physics. As of the time of this writing, I've got about a year left before I graduate. I'm looking at different post-graduate options, including grad school (I'd like to...
N+1 children in a circle, passes a box between them.
Proabilty 0.5 to pass a box to the left or to the right.
When all the chidlren "touches" the box, the game ends.
Need to find distribution of random variable k, which define the k'th child to stop the game.
Dear Everyone,
I need help and advice, please:rolleyes:
I am a retired teacher who is appalled at the nonsense the current crop of PC baloney my grandsons are being brainwashed with every day.
My field was Social Studies, so I am at a disadvantage when it comes to hard science and physics...
Hello everyone,
My teacher posted this question and I've been having problems solving it. Please help.
Homework Statement
3 kids are standing on top of a cart. The cart is on top of a frictionless surface. The kids run WEST at a maximum of 10m/s. As such, the cart will be pushed in the...
I've been a long time lurker, this is my first post. While doing laundry, I caught this show on A&E: Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal. http://www.aetv.com/psychic-kids/
I realize there are a lot of 'ghost' hunter shows, and while I have found them entertaining and humorous (don't...
Well, the questions the thread name =] I have no professional training in teaching methods, or in the mathematics I am planning to teach for that matter. The main thing that made me ask this was that a friend in the same grade as me came and asked if I would tutor him for an hour every week. I...
Is there a way for a kid to blend physics and art into a career? She can't make up her mind which way to go, so I thought I would see if there are any suggestions out there that use both.
Me and my girlfriend have been having this ongoing debate, and I'd like to see what others think is the best age. When I say "best age" I mean the age where you are old enough to be financially stable and responsible, yet young enough that you're not quite over the hill.
I say 28, she says...
Many say that physicsts need to have child like imaginations and inspirations. Many also say that until you have kids of your own, you will not grow up.
Conclusion: Beings kidless will make you more likely a better physicst. However, how good is the evidence? All physicsts I know seem to...

The parents say their children are learning self defence and discipline. I say they are learning that violence is the answer to everything. To allow six year olds to do this is criminal child abuse.
My kids have a Peg Perego John Deere Gator tractor that uses a 12v battery.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000G0KT6Y/?tag=pfamazon01-20
The battery requires monthly charging or it will die. The charge is slow and the winter months are a hassle. I could replace the battery but I'd rather...
My girlfriend has a younger brother who's 8. He starting to understand some concepts about life, but he's still misunderstanding a lot of them. Not having a younger sibling in my life to teach and guide I was kind of wondering how someone would actually teach kids some life concepts? Is it...
People need to encourage their kids to read more. This is ridiculous. Whether you're a fan or not, by the time you're a teenager you should have at least heard of the Narnia books. Check my signature for the quote:
I find this appalling.
How is it that people don't understand the benefits of vacinations and how miniscule the percent of serious adverse reactions are.

A journalist in the UK today said that UK citizens should not feel that the USA is a sicker place than the UK,despite the Virginia Tech massacre, because we have recently heard of some women in the UK getting 2 year old children to kick the s*** out of each other and videoing the proceedings and...
I have applied my supreme translation skills but it still can be somewhat bad english. Any way, here it goes.
So, there were 2 men sitting in a park.
- So, got any kids?
- Two sons.
- Which school are they in?
- They aren't going there yet.
- So, how old are they?
- Their ages product...
I am a bit young to completely know the answer to this question nor do I have kids but I wonder about it.
Is it because
1. You reach a certain age and innately really feel like having one (i.e. to love and care for a child)
2. You think it's the 'right' thing to do and have the resources so...
I can't see any other explanation for it. Just looked at amazon physics bestseller list. You'd expect stringy books to be way up there, parents buying Brian Greene for the boys, Lisa Randall for the girls. Or am I wrong? Wouldn't you expect that? I know a high school senior* who last year...
I found a company makes interesting kids toys.
For kids that have trouble catching baseballs, there's the ball of nails, includes a separate crow bar like tool for removal of the ball from small hands.
A halloween favorite is the captain elmo space helmet, bascially a plastic bag and a...
Here's a interesting, and very disturbing, new development from the Left Behind novel people.
http://www.talk2action.org/story/2006/5/29/195855/959 (warning - disturbing, extremist website)
You assume this is obviously a hoax, something from the Onion? In that case, even MSNBC fell for it...
I was reading about a kid on another forum, an American kid who had a tendency to swear a lot to get attention, I believe he also had ADHD, and he would sometimes act up by hurling fowl language about which he seemed to find amusing, the guy who was a friend of the kid said he found it quit...
I've been noticing something lately. Yah i know that deserves a thread all on its own but something fascinated me. Most people seem to complain and moan and groan when oh, the FBI wants to know what book I am reading or some persons phone is being tapped ever since he attended a terrorist...
Are there any good atom simulators where kids can bash some atoms around on screen using all the measured real world numbers, so bringing reactive elements together would create compounds but something that wasn't staged or pre-animated. something with more of a constructive 'do-anything' on the...
Kansas kids can marry. Say what??
It seems like kansas is in the news again. There are no laws on the books to prevent (with parents consent) kids to marry. Girls need to be at least 12 years old and boy 14.
Can you believe it?
“I will destroy the houses on the kids and women in every town tolerate with terrorists”
This is what the Iraqi defense minister (Sadoun Deilimi) told the Arabiya TV!
Will we miss Saddam?
Heya,
The seniour mathematics teacher at my school has given me (and a few others) the task of designing a 'Math Fun Day'; an event in which about 200 crazy 12-13 year olds visit our science and mathematics school to participate in mathematical activities/games.
We're running short on...
I think so. I see commercial after commercial about how the military will do this or that or the other thing for a person - provide education, skills, travel, teach you to look a man in the eye and shake hands firmly, - and I have seen the results - mental problems, alcoholism, a lack...
My daughter is a bit distressed, she got a call yesterday from a friend to tell her that a girl they knew had just stabbed her mother to death. My daughter's best friend had been the girl's debate mentor last year. She was a nice, intelligent girl, but was known to do drugs and party hard...
