Material Science Questions...
I finally got to exercise a bit of material science. I'd like to know whether what I'm saying correct or no. I also ran into two issues with Brinell's hardness calculations and SEA chart. I'd appreciate feedback! :) 1) Decreasing the size of the nucleus causes...
As the title,
Anyone know any good readable intro book of material science, especially dealing with electronic materials(semiconductors, etc.)?
I am a Physics major in sophomore year..
I took Calc 1-3, linear algebra, ODE and some intro EM and modern physics
What is 1111 phase in material science
Hi Guys,
I wonder if someone tells me about what are the rules for nomenclature of phases in materials.
Generally I read like 1111 phase, 122 family, 11 system. I don't understand completely about this. Does they talk about composition or something else...
I am pursuing my Bsc in Physics.
I am still in sophomore year.
This semester and next year I am intending to take some applied physics courses as electives.
I got choices for Junior level electives, which are:
-Optics: covers geometrical optics, interference, diffraction etc.
-Fiber...
I am working toward my B.S. in Physics and Chemistry with the hope that both disciplines will converge to a good platform for me to pursue material science. My university doesn't offer a curriculum for mat. sci. and I was advised to do both (if I could pull it off.)
The advantage, thus far...
Hi people,
Firstly I want to state that it will be my first message in this forum, I am new around here. I am studying electronical engineering, second year student. I am kind of interested in nanotechnology, hence I am trying to add the course whose name is "Material Science and Technology"...
Dear all,
I got a PhD in computational material science (classical Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics).
I'm doing a postdoc but I wonder if I will keep going that way for my next position.
I've no idea about what to do afterward if I decide to do something else.
I do not know if there are...
Hi everyone, time for my first post.
I just got my Associates in Civil Engineering Technologies, and have decided not to go for my BS because... its really boring. I need something more. Something sub atomic.
So
This fall I will begin pursuing a BS in Physics / MS in Mat. Sci. &...
Hi,
I did Masters in Materials science and presently about to complete PhD in materials technology, to be more specific, thinfilm technology. I prefer working in Industry after this. Could you let me know the possibilities and any industries of interest?
Do I have more choice? :(
Hi everyone, I'm working on a project but having some problems in finding some Carbon_Steel(medium) properties such as yield strength..etc...
if someone can find me a properties table showing these parameters i'll be thankfull...:bugeye:

I want to go to a school that offers a very good material science/chemistry department. I know UCLA has a pretty good one, but can anyone recommend any other schools (within this country) which are good? This is for undergrad by the way.
hi all,
an intersting question in our exam today. we were asked to identify a material given these requiremets "that could have been extracted from product design specifications"
"thermally non-conducting, strong at temperatures in excess of 600K, and optically transparent."
any ideas?
Hey, I am preparing to graduate at the end of this semester, and was wondering if anyone here is or has worked int he material science field. I don't think I'm going to go to grad school right away, and am thinking of looking into this field for a job, and would just like to know of any...
