Mechanical engineering is an engineering branch that combines engineering physics and mathematics principles with materials science to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems. It is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering branches.Mechanical engineering combines creativity, knowledge and analytical tools to complete the difficult task of shaping an idea into reality.
The mechanical engineering field requires an understanding of core areas including mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity. In addition to these core principles, mechanical engineers use tools such as computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons, and others. It is the branch of engineering that involves the design, production, and operation of machinery.Mechanical engineering emerged as a field during the Industrial Revolution in Europe in the 18th century; however, its development can be traced back several thousand years around the world. In the 19th century, developments in physics led to the development of mechanical engineering science. The field has continually evolved to incorporate advancements; today mechanical engineers are pursuing developments in such areas as composites, mechatronics, and nanotechnology. It also overlaps with aerospace engineering, metallurgical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, and other engineering disciplines to varying amounts. Mechanical engineers may also work in the field of biomedical engineering, specifically with biomechanics, transport phenomena, biomechatronics, bionanotechnology, and modelling of biological systems.

I am mid way through my engineering degree and I had a bit exposure to engineers through various circumstances. I have come to the conclusion that I would like to be a consulting engineer who specializes in analysis of stuff. Now I say stuff and analysis because I would like to be as...
Why is Robotics and Mechatronics in Mechanical Engineering if its more electrcity!?
Doesent Robots and Mechatronics have to do more with Electrcial Engineering?
Robots think with electronics not with mechanical or thermodynamics.
Hello
I hope this is the appropriate place for asking my question
I wonder and feel like knowing which of Physics and Mechanical Engineering requires more advanced Mathematics.
That's all!
Hi everyone.
I am entering first year university in aerospace engineering, and since I've heard that job positions are limited in Canada in aero filed, I am wondering if i will be able to work in some mechanical engineering position after i get my degree. ( I know that these two are similar...

Hey guys!
I'm currently a senior in high school who will be moving onto college next year. I've always had a strong point in math, it's something I want to continue studying. In high school I didn't really push myself to the limit so I haven't studied Physics yet. I'm currently in...
I'm about to finish my BS in Mechanical engineering and I was wondering about doing a dual major in Physics. The departments are very closely related. I actually only have to take 12 hours of upper level physics courses (intro modern physics, quantum, electromagnetic theory, etc.)

Hey, I'm in second year of engineering, and have to pick my courses for third year.
I have the option of going into mechatronics or stick to regular mechanical engineering.I don't know what i should do. I heard mechatronics has a lot to do with controls system. I want to invent my own things...
My school has a BS degree for both. Although Nuclear seems more cool and involves more physics, Mechanical Engineering seems like a more flexible degree. I'm interested in getting a job in the energy sector (not necessarily nuclear power plant design/reactor design), or in technical...

Howdy big timers. I need some stouthearted mechanical engineers to help me out with my reasoning here. Since I graduated some five years ago I’ve have found that there is a gap between what you know as a college graduate, and what that knowledge does and means in the real world. In the field...
Hi all this is my first post and i wanted some suggestions on good books to read about mechanical engineering. I am a freshman in high school and I am interested in mechanical engineering and I wanted to read some books about what mechanical engineering is.
what area(s) of chemistry is used in mechanical engineering, Is chemistry crucial to Mechanical Engineering and if it is ,What areas or topics should one concentrate on .
Thanks in advance.
Is it possible to work full-time and study mechanical engineering (full credit) at the same time ,How much pressure will I face through out the program ,any specific courses which are specifically challenging ,Because I finished my first semester(full credit) while working and barely found...
