I am looking for a 27" or 28" monitor to replace my 22" HP 2207.
The reason is mainly to take the advantage of 1080p ,possibly for some xbox360/ps3 games(although I own neither now) and to have a biggest-possible monitor on my desk.
I have done some research and now need certain information to...
Recently going through threads on PF, the idea came to me, about how to set up a screen that has all the favorite links that with just a click of the mouse I can pull up a program for doing all the things needed, like check for meaning or spelling of a word, a units converter, using LaTEX (I'm...
I'm working on a project for class. The project requires a certain level of difficulty.
The idea:
A system that would theoretically monitor the current through EACH solar cell in a Photovoltaic panel to ensure it wasn't shaded or defective.(For those that don't know, when a solar panel is...
I have limited hardware components I can use for this obstacle. Let's say I have precision rectified the input heartbeat signal into a square wave... I am trying to count the number of squarewaves/heartbeats and display them on two 7-segment displays refreshing every 15 seconds...
I can only...
Homework Statement
The current in the electron beam of a computer monitor is 410 µA. How many electrons per second hit the screen?
Homework Equations
The Attempt at a Solution
A beam current of 410µA means that 410µC of charge strike the screen per second. This is equivalent to...
Hey guys, I have a little problem with a code that I work with. The code is a full CFD solver written in Fortran 90. I need to make a change to a variable that gets passed all over the place. Basically its allocated to say N³, but at some point a routines operates on it thinking that it's only...
Really need your help peoples... Built my own computer a couple years ago and the new case came with a cheap Power Supply Unit that recently began failing. While booting, the power connection fails and everything shuts off and I have to wiggle the power cord plug and try again. No...its...
Is the monitor (of your PC) "destroying" your eyes?
Hello!
I have one question for you.
Is the monitor (of your PC) "destroying" your eyes?
Are there any research or statistics relating this question?
Thank you.
It appears my desktop monitor is not displaying red. Incidentally I just purchased a laptop and was running it in front of the desktop monitor. I don't believe the problem is related to any manual change of setting, as I have not adjusted anything.
I use my laptop as desktop, run a monitor on it and speakers etc... anyways when I plug it in it causes interference in the monitor and sound. Anyone know what causes this?? And how to remedy the problem.
Since building my new system, this is just sitting around, and I doubt I'll ever use them again.
Any ideas as far as disposal? The monitor works fine, but there isn't too much on the PC worth salvaging.
Just thow it in the garbage or what?

SETI's current monitoring of RF is a noble cause (in my opinion). How can we hope to discover other intelligent life if we don't listen?
But as I understand it, it is sort of pathetic in terms of the handful of frequencies they actually monitor. So this lead me to these questions:
What...
I recently bought a new cpu - a core 2 Duo E6550 @2.33Ghz. The board model is Intel Desktop Board DG33FB. But I kept my old monitor, a Samsung Samtron 45Bn, bought way back in 1999. The monitor does not work with the new system with software drivers installed. I have to use it otherherwise...
I've noticed 3 things: that about 3 times/day (I use the computer for about 4 hrs/day, rough estimate), as I'm surfin the net, the screen just freezes for a second and then the page I'm viewing gets messed up. Like for example, when I'm reading a paragraph on a website, it gets erased or appears...

Hi i recently acquired an ammeter with a shunt can anyone explain how to wire this so i can measure amps in an electrolytic cell. Does the positive lead have to be wired across the shunt so that it doesn't burn out the lcd display. I've never used such an ammeter so any suggestions will be...
I'm planning to "strip" or take apart an LCD monitor and build my own LCD projector to project a 10 foot video image on my wall, just like the one from Tom's hardware site.
But in order to proceed, I will have to take apart my LCD monitor and take out the LCD screen. Does anyone have any...
Dear Forum,
I would like to build my own ECG monitor.
Does anyone have experience building one?
Especially I am looking for recommendations on which op amps I can use. The ones I have found, like TI's ina122, ina 332 are both rather expensive (like 10 euro per piece) and hard tu find...
Last night, something exploded inside my monitor. It generated some smoke which I could smell. I pulled the plug as fast a possible, but after a some time past I got curious and plugged the monitor back in and turned it on. To my suprise, the only problem was that the image was shifted to the...
When I bought my new comptuer, it came with a nice LCD monitor. My understanding is that these LCD's don't refresh. They only refresh the pixel that changes; therefore, they are much much easier on the eyes. I find looking at this flat screen highly tolerable. But the LCD is on the computer...
Well I recently just tore apart an old laptop and salvaged the monitor (still good)
Now I am pretty sure it is nearly impossible (for me right now) to turn it into a useful desktop monitor
but does anyone know of any other cool projects/ideas to do with it?
thanks
I have an acer aspire30002 and i connected a dell flat panel monitor to it. The thing is I can never get them to display separate screens. I got them to display the same thing earlier but now only one at a time. Does this mean that the video card does not support dual monitors?
I looked through the threads and didn't see this discussed anywhere, but it if it was please refer me.

I urgently need a little program to monitor what programs want to access the internet and when, for Windows. Something like Little Snitch, is what I use for my Apple computer. http://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html AS SOON AS POSSIBLE PLEASE!
Thank you very much!
This is very technical. I've just got hold of a lovely Mitsubishi Diamondplus 230 sb monitor. It's only 2 years old and still under warranty. However I have a serious compatibility problem with my GeForce 2 MX 400 card. Thescreen luks fuzzy, not blurred at any refresh rate over 60 hz. In fact...
I am not a computer geek, I don't know what has changed in my system either.
Whenever I scroll down or up the page or folders, the monitor looks like flickering, not smoothly as before, and it moves really slowly.
I tried changing monitor screen size smaller (800x600) or larger (1280x1024)...
Ayoy hoy,
I've just finished building up a new computer. However, no signal seems to be getting to the monitor.
I've tried three different graphics cards (both PCI and AGP), and two different monitors. The motherboard has got power, but my thoughts are that I've been sold a dodgy...
Have you looked at any of these monitors?

I have a viewsonic E771 and was wondering what the max refresh rate on in would be. I looked up the specs and it says
Fh:30-70kHz, Fv:50-120Hz
My question is what does Fh and Fv mean?

I don't know if this is the right forum for this; please move it if it belongs elsewhere.

I have a CRT monitor aligned against the wall of my apartment. At times the screen begins to shake as though a current was running near it. I looked outside and there are 3 big 1-1.5 inch thick wires going up the wall near where my CRT monitor is. I assume this is the problem. Because of my...
