Well, this is General Discussion, and I have been here awhile, so I figured maybe I could show my music.
I make different types of genres, but today I have some dark moody orchestral for you..
It's 3 songs clocking in at 12 MB or so..
Please let me know what you think...
I think it's safe to claim that since songs and albums are under U.S. copyright law, it is illegal to download them. However, I have a few questions regarding this matter.
First and foremost, how exactly does the government track that you are downloading illegal music? Is it through IP...
My neighbour is playing their music far too loud and it's been going on for weeks.
Is there possible some way I could make something to screw with their radio from a-far? Only about 10 meters.
I could just ask them to turn it down, but that's not nearly as fun
Have any non Americans not heard of the music group Boney M? Or any American heard of Boney M?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boney_M
I was quite surprised that none of my American friends ever heard of them. Boney M was a world hit in 70s and 80s. At the bottom of the above wiki link, they...
More than 200 dancers perform their version of "Do Re Mi", in the Central Station of Antwerp. With just 2 rehearsals they created this amazing stunt!

So I'm not big on blaring death metal from a $20 boom box while doing Calculus problems or anything, but I'll often put some light classical music on in the background while studying, or the occasional rock and roll at a fairly low volume. My question is, how does this affect one's ability to...
I just want to make sure I know these things correctly for an upcoming test, so if anyone can let me know, correct me (especially on the bolded stuff), or give me some extra info, that'd be great!
-Music has a constant waveform (sinusoidal), meaning it consists of musical notes with constant...

I would like to make some custom made extension springs out of music wire. Can anyone provide the formula's to determine the wire thickness, coil diameter and coil length to achieve a desired spring constant?
The motivation is that I need some small springs in my research and it is difficult...
Hi every one,
This question is not related to politics. However I am looking for a background music for my video on physics. I love the background music in this web site:-

Do you know a place to download this music (if it is freely...
Is there a specific reason why the music notes are of the well-known frequencies? Or, the frequencies just became the de facto standard from some historical musical instrument?
http://www.techlib.com/reference/musical_note_frequencies.htm
I was wondering if sound processing is similar to...
1. One closed organ pipe has a length of 2.40m.
a. What is the frequency of the note played by this pipe?
b. When a second pipe is played at the same time, a 1.40 Hz beat note is heard. By how much is the second pipe too long?
2. f = nv/2L (n = 1)
change...
1. A flute acts like an open pipe and sounds a note with a 370 - Hz pitch. What are the frequencies of the second, third, and fourth harmonics of this pitch?
2. f = nv/2L (n = 1, 2, 3, 4)
3. f = nv/2L
370 = 343/2L
740 L = 343
L = 0.463513513...
Experiment related to music??
Anyone know any good experiments related to music? I have been looking and all I can think of is an experiment which verifies a formula that is well known. It has to be something that is not well known but at the same time it can't just be a demonstration...
Searching for the "Human Connection"--Physics and Music.
Hello everyone! I'm currently a senior in high school (going off to study architecture at either Rensselaer Polytech Ins., Marywood U, or Philadelphia U) and am doing an independent research project on the topic of relating acoustic...
Why can't anybody be a music composer?
There are only a finite number music notes. And to create a finite duration of music, write an algorithm that plays all the combinations of the notes in, say, piano. Listen to most/all of them (or outsource them) and pick the better ones. Optionally...
As I've posted before, I teach an acoustics lab to undergraduate physics students and, they are currently working on an experimental observation of the motion of the simple pendulum.
How does the motion of a simple pendulum relate to music?
Everyone who has replied to any of my threads...
Hey everyone,
I was tinkering with a battery, wire and such earlier, and I discovered something odd. :bugeye:
I had a steel? wire and I placed the ends onto the terminals of a D battery for a time, and obviously, it warmed up. But I also had a thing that played a recorded music track when two...
I'm an undergraduate physics major and, I teach an acoustics lab to undergraduate music majors.
I've tried researching the experiments to find explanations of their relevance to these music majors but, this sort of course does not seem to be extremely common, one in which the physical...
Just a bit of trivia that seems worth mentioning: Feb 3rd was the 50th anniversary of Buddy Holly's death in a plane crash.
The Beatles chose their name partly in honor of Holly's Crickets. Also, most here have probably heard the song American Pie, which honors Holly's death...
Who knows of him and his music? I discovered him about a month ago or so, he's fantastic. I'll try and get some videos embedded, but for now you can look in the Best Songs Ever thread.
This is an experiment, I want to check how rare my music preferences are.
Could you read the list below
if any band name rings a bell for you then post the band name, and the total number of the bands you know in that list.
If it is 0 please post 0.
Thank you

i'm a math major that is looking to get into a phd program for math. while fulfilling my general education requirements for my undergrad I've taken a bunch of music classes (i really enjoy music). unknowingly, I'm only two classes away from a minor in music. my question is whether or not it is...
Ok, my roommate plays heavy bass music CONSTANTLY. He's currently playing it this morning. He uses it to wake up, but it wakes everybody up. It's his alarm system.
It's very annoying.
Solution 1 - I started playing my own loud music that's louder than his and he's not hearing impaired...
That's what my daughter asked me, since she is organizing a halloween party for her 'clients'.

But what is the best spooky music?
I recently joined myyearbook so that I could hit on hypatia without getting into trouble. I noticed that everyone plays mp3 on their homepage. I decided to go ahead and upload something too. I've got 12 Richard Feynman lectures. The first six were titled six easy pieces. the next six were six...
Well what esoteric music do you like to hear, I mean outside of the mainstream?
For example, for me Joe Satriani although is mainly instrumental is still well known, and other guitars wankers are also mainstream, the main problem whith Satriani that his music is self centred on his guitar...
Hi all.
Recently I have started to make electronic music, mainly using Reason.
Just wondering does anyone else have any recommendations on software I should check out.
Thanks.
Music and mathematics are irrevocably related. One of the things that struck me about both is that they are both products of our mind and exist solely in our heads (this observation, as much as I wish it were, is not mine, but I wholly stand by it), and we find relations between mathematics...
Hey guys, don't know if this is the right place to post this.
I've been into all sorts of music for many years. Wierd music including Meshuggah, Ozric Tentacles, Fred Thordendales Special Defects, Classical music, etc

I own a beauty salon and I'm wondering if I need to pay royalty when playing music and movies that I own. I want setup video and music on demand for waiting customers.
I have gone through various phases as a musician, from which my ideology of music has been established. The tragic thing is that my new ideology leads me to feel like never writing a song again.
Phase one, stoked to be playing anything. Phase two, getting good, growing ego. Stage three...
What do you think about creating a commercial free channel which plays nothing but pro musicians and teachers giving video lessons. You could have a channel for each instrument if you wanted. Maybe have one program that covers like 4 or 5 instruments: drums, bass, guitar, piano, voice. Then...
Does anyone know how to solve this question?
The atmospheric pressure is 0.850 atm. The rarefactions of a particular sound wave then reduce the pressure to 0.841 atm, what is the amplitude of the pressure wave expressed in metric units N/m2(squared)?
