A physicist is a scientist who specializes in the field of physics, which encompasses the interactions of matter and energy at all length and time scales in the physical universe.
Physicists generally are interested in the root or ultimate causes of phenomena, and usually frame their understanding in mathematical terms.
Physicists work across a wide range of research fields, spanning all length scales: from sub-atomic and particle physics, through biological physics, to cosmological length scales encompassing the universe as a whole.
The field generally includes two types of physicists: experimental physicists who specialize in the observation of physical phenomena and the analysis of experiments, and theoretical physicists who specialize in mathematical modeling of physical systems to rationalize, explain and predict natural phenomena.
Physicists can apply their knowledge towards solving practical problems or to developing new technologies (also known as applied physics or engineering physics).
What Is A Physicist ?

Goto the above URL and you shall find various references to sites that will present the socalled PHYSICIST to you. What does he do ? What does he earn ? Comparisons of physicists in different...
ok, so my friends gave me the greatest Christmas gift ever - a physicist! But the darn instruction manual is all in Japanese! He's so adorable, and very interactive - more than I expected - but I have no idea how to care for him or what to feed him. Any suggestions? What do they like to eat...
Engineer Vs Physicist (DEATHMATCH!)
OK...i've seen some friendly comments on the similarities and differences between Engineering and Physics. I would like to hear from people in these fields and studying these fields to get defensive, get personal, but be serious (why not witty and funny...
Anyone worked on problems from "Thinking Like a Physicist" ? This is a compilation of qualifier problems from the University of Bristol (I think) Physics Dept. - very different from the standard physics problems you come across in texts like Irodov, Resnick, etc.
I found them quite refreshing !
Hi, I am a new college student who is majoring in Physics. I would like to be a physicist, but I have never been good at math or physics. Since I was about 17 I have wanted to be some kind of scientist, but recently I have been having second thoughts about it.
I am worried about the time...
I seem to have grand, romanticized notions of what a physicist does during the day. If you are a physicist, I would like to hear from you.
What do you do day in and out?
Do you enjoy your work?
What level of education do you have for your physics job?
i am not yet a physicist nor mathematician but i wnated to know what kind of other are there for them beside research in acadamy and tutoring?
some examples I've come to are:
cryptographer, opticicst (if that's how you call someone who is working in optics).
tell me the 3 greatest physicist u think
and who is the most?? why??
for my opinion
1)Newton
2)A.Einstein
3)Maxwell
i put Newton at the 1st place because i think we start learn physics is Newton's law, that mean it's a foundation of physics
the second place i put Einstein because Einstein...
