Ansys Maxwell Inductance Problem

AI Thread Summary
The user is experiencing a problem with Ansys Maxwell where they are not receiving any inductance results in their transient simulations for 2 phase inductors. They have previously had success with the software but now find their graphs empty of inductance data. A fellow user suggests checking the "Design Settings" and enabling the "Compute Inductance Matrix" option to resolve the issue. The original user expresses gratitude for this solution, noting they had forgotten this step. This exchange highlights a common troubleshooting tip for users of Ansys Maxwell.

Hi All,

If anyone could help me with a problem I'm having, it would be great.

I've been using Ansys Maxwell for about 6 months now, and I've gotten the hang of it. I mainly simulate 2 phase inductors. Until yesterday, I've had no problem, but for some reason, I'm not getting any inductance results in any of my transient simulations. Has anyone else come across this problmem, and does anyone know of a solution?

Just to be clear, I'm not getting the wrong answers, I'm just not getting any answers for inductances in any graphs. They are just emptry. I've used the field calculator a bit, but I'd prefer to see the plots themselves.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Just saw your post and had a similar problem a few months ago!

If you right click your design in the project manager tree and go to "Design Settings", in there you should have a "Matrix Computation" tab, tick "Compute Inductance Matrix" and you should be able to view results!

Hope this helps!

Good Sir, you're a genius. I don't even remember having to do that the first time, and I've been rattling my brain for the last month trying to figure it out. Thanks for this man. Legend.

Hey guys. I have a question related to electricity and alternating current. Say an alien fictional society developed electricity, and settled on a standard like 73V AC current at 46 Hz. How would appliances be designed, and what impact would the lower frequency and voltage have on transformers, wiring, TVs, computers, LEDs, motors, and heating, assuming the laws of physics and technology are the same as on Earth?
While I was rolling out a shielded cable, a though came to my mind - what happens to the current flow in the cable if there came a short between the wire and the shield in both ends of the cable? For simplicity, lets assume a 1-wire copper wire wrapped in an aluminum shield. The wire and the shield has the same cross section area. There are insulating material between them, and in both ends there is a short between them. My first thought, the total resistance of the cable would be reduced...
I used to be an HVAC technician. One time I had a service call in which there was no power to the thermostat. The thermostat did not have power because the fuse in the air handler was blown. The fuse in the air handler was blown because there was a low voltage short. The rubber coating on one of the thermostat wires was chewed off by a rodent. The exposed metal in the thermostat wire was touching the metal cabinet of the air handler. This was a low voltage short. This low voltage...
