AI Thread Summary
Tape armouring and wire armouring serve to enhance the mechanical properties of power cables, but they differ in application based on specific needs. Tape armouring is often preferred for its lightweight and flexibility, making it suitable for installations requiring tight bends or where weight is a concern. In contrast, wire armouring provides superior protection against physical damage, making it ideal for environments with higher risks of impact or abrasion. The choice between the two typically depends on the installation environment and the level of mechanical protection required. Understanding these differences is crucial for selecting the appropriate armouring type for specific cable applications.

Hello guys , i have a question related to cable mechanical properties

you know power cables have armouring , which enhance the mechanical properties for the cable

the question is : what is the difference between the Tape armour and wire armour i know the difference in how they look like and the difference in construction but what i mean , when the tape armouring is preferred over wire armouring and vice verse

Thanks alot

I have Mass A being pulled vertically. I have Mass B on an incline that is pulling Mass A. There is a 2:1 pulley between them. The math I'm using is: FA = MA / 2 = ? t-force MB * SIN(of the incline degree) = ? If MB is greater then FA, it pulls FA up as MB moves down the incline. BUT... If I reverse the 2:1 pulley. Then the math changes to... FA = MA * 2 = ? t-force MB * SIN(of the incline degree) = ? If FA is greater then MB, it pulls MB up the incline as FA moves down. It's confusing...
Hi. I noticed that all electronic devices in my household that also tell time eventually lag behind, except the ones that get synchronized by radio signal or internet. Most of them are battery-powered, except my alarm clock (which runs slow as well). Why does none of them run too fast? Deliberate design (why)? Wrong temperature for quartz crystal? Decreasing battery voltage? Or just a coincidence?
