Assignment about Galileo and his contributions to science

AI Thread Summary
Galileo's significant contribution to science includes the establishment of the scientific method, emphasizing investigation through experimentation. Inductive reasoning involves forming new theories based on observations, while deductive reasoning applies existing knowledge to reach conclusions. The geocentric model places Earth at the center of the universe, whereas the heliocentric model, proposed by Galileo, positions the sun at the center. Understanding these concepts is crucial for evaluating Galileo's impact on scientific thought. This foundational knowledge aids in completing the assignment effectively.

hi I am doing an assignment on Galileo in which i have to disscuss and evaluate this quotation:
"One of Galileo's greatest contributions to science was the establishment of the scientific method-that is investigation through experiment"

Ive done some stuff on the scientific method but i also need to write about:

*Inductive versus deductive reasoning
*Geocentric versus heliocentric model of the universe

I've looked through all of my textbooks but i can't find anything about these.

Please can someone explain to me what these terms mean in simple words, because some of the websites which i looked at didn't make much sense to me.

As far as I know, inductive reasoning is to formulate new ideas and theories rather than using what you already know and has been discovered by others (=deductive). Heliocentric is Galileo's theory of the sun being the center (of the solar system), rather than it being the Earth (=geocentric).

Hope that helps!

Thread 'Voltmeter readings for this circuit with switches'
TL;DR Summary: I would like to know the voltmeter readings on the two resistors separately in the picture in the following cases , When one of the keys is closed When both of them are opened (Knowing that the battery has negligible internal resistance) My thoughts for the first case , one of them must be 12 volt while the other is 0 The second case we'll I think both voltmeter readings should be 12 volt since they are both parallel to the battery and they involve the key within what the...
Thread 'Correct statement about a reservoir with an outlet pipe'
The answer to this question is statements (ii) and (iv) are correct. (i) This is FALSE because the speed of water in the tap is greater than speed at the water surface (ii) I don't even understand this statement. What does the "seal" part have to do with water flowing out? Won't the water still flow out through the tap until the tank is empty whether the reservoir is sealed or not? (iii) In my opinion, this statement would be correct. Increasing the gravitational potential energy of the...
