In summary, the Boeing Starliner Crew Capsule experienced a significant failure during its uncrewed orbital test flight in December 2019 when a timing error caused it to miss its intended docking with the International Space Station (ISS). Following the incident, NASA and Boeing conducted a thorough investigation, revealing software issues and other technical shortcomings that needed to be addressed before the spacecraft could safely carry astronauts. The Starliner program faced delays as Boeing worked to rectify these problems, leading to revised schedules for subsequent test flights and eventual crewed missions. Despite these setbacks, Boeing remains committed to ensuring the Starliner's reliability and safety for future crewed space exploration.

A video about the Boeing culture and the path to development, launching, and (finally) docking, the Starliner. At times a bit tedious but lots of info. 28 Minutes.

Cheers,
Tom

Decent review of the situation with many interesting photos of the space station and details about Starliner thruster failures that I have not read in the digital press. Thanks.

Man, nuthin' inspires my confidence in a story like a major typo in the headline...

"Did you proofread the whole thing?"
"Of course!"
"The WHOLE thing??"

"Okey dokey ... (sets down pot of coffee and snacks)... What exactly happened to the Boeing Sta-OOH SQUIRREL!"

Who would buy it? As far as I can tell, its value is in the negative billions. Perhaps China, for tech transfer, and there is no way the US Government will go along.

Furthermore, does anyone think they will get a fair, honest deal from Boeing? This looks like, on top of everything else, a decade of litigation.

More to the point… is there even a possible buyer that could pick it up without consolidating the industry too much?

One could argue the industry is already consolidated too much,

I do not believe this is sincere. I believe it is an attempt to a) shore up stock prices, b) extract more money from the federal government, or both.

Maybe hoping for a marriage with BO? They have some a severe lack of tech, people, organization, effectiveness, luck.
Anything from Boeing would not be much of a help, though...
