In summary, the conversation focuses on tips for reducing stress and preparing for exams. It is recommended to get a good rest the night before and eat a regular, healthy breakfast. Exercise and avoiding excessive activities are also suggested for long-term stress reduction. It is also advised to have a specific study plan and develop test-taking strategies. Some individuals may benefit from caffeine before the exam, while others may prefer not to eat at all. Ultimately, it is important to stick to one's regular routine and not go overboard with any changes.

Just get a good rest the night before and eat your regular (healthy, hopefully) breakfast. Keep it light.

As for stress reduction, exercise is the best for me. If this is a last-minute thing for you, then going out and running a couple miles may not help. But in the future, and in the long run, having a regular exercise routing doing some things that you enjoy will be a big stress reducer.

Just relax with your friends / watch some TV or play some games on the day of the exam, a good laugh will totally relax you.

Good luck with the exam! (Wish me luck as well I've got an exam tommorow :<)

my morning routine for a test day consists of eating a banana early followed by a high carb breakfast like fruit and cereal. also something i do before i head out is run up and down some stairs if i haven't exercised yet, just to get my heart rate up and making me more alert.

i read a lot to not study at all the morning before a test, but i always make sure any equations i may need are within my memory banks, as well as looking over anything that i may not have spent much time on so that i don't miss a small step. usually do a quick once over of my study material until it's time to get out the door.

For the morning of the exam, I recommend following your regular routine. There's no point in trying to eat something that has the potential not to agree with you. In general I would stay away from high fat foods and very large meals and go for fruit, cereal (not sugar cereal: Cocopops for example will give you a short burst of energy and leave you high and dry in the middle fo the exam), yogurt, toast, juice etc.

General tips to minimize exam stress in the long term:
1. Have a specific, realistic study plan that will allow you to cover the material you need to cover to the best of your ability, and stick to this plan. Set realistic, measureable goals (such as doing 5 problems per night, or reviewing two lectures, etc.). Doing this will comfort you in knowing that you're doing everything you can to perform well on the exam.

2. Get plenty of exercise. Your body needs to burn off physical energy on a regular basis and this will also help you sleep better.

3. As much as possible, get regular, good sleep.

4. Avoid excessive, unimportant activities such as watching television, playing video games, social networking, aimless web surfing. Note the emphasis on 'excessive' - sometimes a little bit of these things can help you relax.

5. Try to do some extra reading on material peripheral to the lecture material - this becomes more important the further you go in academia.

6. Develop test-taking strategies that will maximize your performance. Learn as much as you can about the format of each exam, material to be covered, and the amount of time you willl have. Seek out exams from previous years and use them for practice.

I tend to do better if I drink something caffeinated right before the exam. Use this at your own risk - my friend tried it and he ended up just being really jittery and doing worse.

Personally if my exam was in the morning (say 9am) I'll avoid eating anything at all. The last thing that I'd want to happen is for me to develop a stomachache and have to rush off to the toilet during the exam.

Breakfast is fine with me if the exams are in the afternoon.

Don't go over the top with anything.
If you usually eat breakfast-eat breakfast
If you don't-don't
Your routines have gotten you this far, don't abandon them now.

Thank You, but like what I learned is not to try something new in the morning of the test.

Seconded! Get that potassium up!

Other than that, I'm a worrier for exams and I've no doubt that it has a big impact on my performance. The lesson is that the best thing you can do on exam day is to relax. I try to go for a walk, but keep myself occupied with something so that I don't focus on stressing about the exam, if you like computer games then play that for a bit. Good luck!
