Can Tsu still enjoy the Country Fair after her fall?

In summary, Tsu fell and broke her hip, and will be in surgery tonight. She should be able to come home tomorrow. As of right now, she is in the hospital waiting for an operating room, and I came home for some odds and ends, and food.

Last night Tsu fell and broke her hip, and immediate surgery was required. She will be in surgery tonight and should be able to come home tomorrow. As of right now, she is in the hospital waiting for an operating room, and I came home for some odds and ends, and food.

Apparently she just slipped in the parking lot on some gravel and took a very bad fall - just a freaky thing with no sign of bone density problems.

I'm afraid this ends the plans for the Country Fair: She will be down for six weeks. That also means that she will have nothing to do but babysit the kitten, which as you can imagine, she will absolutely hate.

Tell her I didn't study the hip, I studied the hand for my lecture, so she has to go back and fix her hip and break her hand instead.

I hope she recovers completely and quickly! Hip fracture and surgery...ow!

Is breaking bones some sort of sisterhood right of passage? If so, let me know ahead so I can stock up on bandages and crutches.

That will be quite enough thank you. What do you think she is, a cat?

Sh!t! I knew something was up when she didn't respond to a comment I made about the OCF. Hope she gets well in a hurry. (not rushing it, just being better soon, of course)

Wow, that must have been some fall. Speedy recovery to Tsu. I hope all goes well with surgery.

Warm wishes to both of you, Ivan. You must be worried. Good thing the kitten is available to help care for Tsu.

Poor Tsu! Please send her my love.

Good that you have Little Tyke. I have heard that cat purring speeds up healing

Lately I've been doing some work on wormholes. Maybe we could drop Tsu through a wormhole and have her emerge just before she broke her hip.

If not, then Ivan will just have to jump through hoops instead of wormholes.

Best wishes and take care,

Can I have mine before I break something? Good thing I'm not as competitive as my sisters; I don't need to "one-up" them on this!

Maybe they're doing this for another reason: flowers, cards, maybe some chocolates...

Glad to hear everything went well. I hope we see postings of your post-op progress, Tsu!

I'm glad to know everything went well. Thanks for the update, Ivan.

Moonbear, when you order your suit, get one for me too, please? But of course, not in exactly the same style, because then we'll never be able to go anywhere together.

Kurdt is supposed to be making us kevlar bubble wrap armor.

KURDT!

I'd have to be squeezing and handling the sisters constantly just so I could hear the popping!

Thanks everyone! I'm doing well, now that I'm home with Ivan and Little Tyke and Zoobie. Got good drugs so it hardly hurts at all. I can't bear ANY weight on the hip for 6 weeks so I had to buy (oh god) a WALKER! I just can't believe it. Ivan's mom might actually hurt herself laughing. Last winter, when I took 3 months off to take care of her after her last back surgery, she had a walker that I kind of played with and learned to use (sort of - plus is was hysterical when I hid it from her...)

Here's what happened. I was walking to my car in the hospital parking lot after work Wednesday night. I slipped on a piece of gravel, pitched forward (doing a total face plant into the side of my car - cut my lip, scratched up my nose) and then landed on my hip. I just groaned and pulled myself to my feet (again! - I do this kind of thing fairly frequently, just usually not quite this bad ), picked up all my stuff (except my glasses - I ran over them as I pulled out ) and headed home. When I got home and got out of the car, I realized my hip really hurt pretty dang bad, but I figured that since I could walk, it was probably just a really bad bruise. By the next morning, I couldn't walk on it, so Ivan took me to Urgent Care, had my xrays and was very surprised at what I saw! What I did was - I impacted the femoral neck into the head and had to have it "pinned". This procedure drills 3 long screws from the side of the hip through the femoral neck and into the femoral head securing those parts in place so that it heals properly. But now I'm on really hard drugs and about to fall asleep as I type so I have to go to bed.

Later
