AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around skepticism regarding the authenticity of a viral claim about cellphones popping popcorn. Initial reactions express doubt about the validity of the phenomenon, with some participants finding it strange and likely fake. A referenced blog post outlines a process where cellphones, when placed near popcorn, supposedly cause it to pop due to vibrations. However, scientific explanations suggest that while popcorn pops from internal pressure release, the idea that cellphones can effectively cause this through vibrations is considered implausible. Overall, the consensus leans towards the claim being a hoax rather than a legitimate scientific occurrence.

1)Put the popcorn in the microwave.
2)Once it starts to pop take the popcorn out of the microwave and put it in the middle of the table.
3)Put your cellphones in the proper place (make sure they vibrate when beign called)
4)The popcorn pops!

When a popcorn is heated it builds up gas in the inside.
A popcorn pops because the pressure of the gas is released.
The vibrations of the cellphones crack the shell of the popcorn thus releasing the gas!
