AI Thread Summary
Castor, Pollux, Mars, and the Moon are currently visible in a striking arrangement. The original poster observed this celestial display while returning from a pub. They requested images taken with better exposure control and without city light pollution. An attached snapshot shows the arrangement, albeit affected by light pollution. The discussion highlights a desire for clearer astronomical photography of these celestial bodies.

are in a beautiful arrangement tonight as I have just observed on the walk back from the pub.

Does anyone have access to an image without city light pollution and better exposure control than my phone?

Even with the light pollution they're pretty clear. But yeah, a real telescope shot would've been nice.

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...
