What is the difference between Maxwell-Boltzmann and Maxwell distributions
in the kinetic theory of gases?

The Attempt at a Solution



I know that the Maxwell-Boltzmann Distribution shows the energy of molecules against the number. What this shows is a spread of the energies contained within the sample of molecules, where some molecules have a high energy and others low, we can also see the amount of energy most molecules have etc.

I also know that the Maxwell-Boltzmann Distribution is an improvement in the description of energies within a system over the Maxwell Distribution, but am not too sure what the Maxwell Distribution actually is, or how to describe the differences.

If anyone could push me into the correct direction, I will be greatful.
