Equipment for simple spectrometer

In summary, a simple spectrometer typically requires essential equipment including a light source (such as a lamp), a collimator to narrow the light beam, a diffraction grating or prism to disperse light into its spectrum, a detector (like a CCD camera or photodiode) to capture the spectral data, and a computer or display for analyzing and interpreting the results. Additional components may include a sample holder and filters to enhance measurement accuracy.

TL;DR Summary
Spectrometer standard equipment
Hello:

Doing some review work on physics and , trying to build some simple spectrometer, is it possible to use anti reflect coated lenses or should I use normal lenses

Best regards
H

What spectrum, wavelength range ?

Why do you want lenses at all?
Again, you are assuming we can read your mind.

To reduce the size of the light reaching the sensor to enhance the quality

Ah...so now there is more than a diffraction grating and a tube. There is some kind of sensor.

We're back where we were "Figure out what I want and then tell me how to build it."

Thread is reopened provisionally, but unfortunately the OP is on a short vacation from PF.

@hagopbul -- If you would like our help in this thread, you need to give us specifications on the spectrometer you want to build, and show us what you have been reading about spectrometers so we can try to offer helpful suggestions. Thank you.

Sadly, I don't think there's been any more thought to it than the Little Rascal's "Hey, let's put on a show!"

The simplest is a diffraction grating in a tube. Zillions have been sold as part of chemistry sets when chemistry sets were a thing. That's clearly not what he wants, as he discusses lenses (which is almost certainly not what he wants based on his description) and sensors. If this is inadequate, he has to tell us where and not rely on our telepathic powers.

Well, I have at least learned something from your reply, even from the question. It never occurred to me I could have a simple spectrometer. For the next comment, can you explain to me what I will use it for? =;-D [No reply needed. How you folks have such relatively kindly replies often feels beyond me, but thanks to your examples I do find it within me to try.]
