This might be a good place to discuss how to change your avatar. I don't have a clue, but then I haven't tried yet.

Yours is cool edward, i should have put it in my top 10.

Thanks wolram, it is a picture of a hedge in front of my house that I trimmed into the shape of an old car.

Ah, yes... the roller-skating snake. I still can't figure out why it's wearing glasses.

My favorite french fries G01 and of course our beloved woolyram, not like I picked out his avatar, or anything. <cough>

:approve:

I'm honored to be your favorite box of french fries Evo!

Speaking of avatars Evo, your the girl in your avatar is from a painting right?

I saw a copy of that painting in a friends house and did a double take!

Here is the old Ivan. I thought it was the creepiest looking fringe photo that I'd ever seen.

My all-time favorite avatar was probably Boulderhead's. But I think many of them are cool including the ones already listed. Did anyone mention Gokul?

I was hoping other people would contribute more to this thread so I wouldn't have to list all of them. I know I've seen lot's of great ones that I can't remember to whom they belong.

Congratulations FrancisZ on becoming a contributor! You have just helped us get a bit closer to being able to get a larger server. Thank you.

I like your avatar. I can't attach your picture from this computer for some reason.

Why thank-you! I designed it in Microsoft paint for my buddy and lab partner Francesco. Frank used to work for the Langauge Lab at Seton Hall: scanning old, and out of print language texts for PDF files and such. Anyway, he though it would be funny to have a bootlegging print company. "Millions" he used to joke; "We'll make millions copying and selling these rare Chinese texts."

Frank called it "Pirate Press," and wanted a logo akin to the school mascot we have. I thought it would be funnier (and less scary) if a jolly roger had a fez hat. Kind of like a dead Shriner.

This really is a great forum, and well worth it. So kudos to you Physics Forum. Hoping you get that server you're after.

Thanks, It's a "self portrait"

This talk of avatars reminded me that I had yet to change it over the The Halloween version.

It involves turkey tailfeathers, and you probably aren't prepared for the details.

I'm sorry, but I hate, hate, hate Evo's avatar. Her old one was a billion times better and every time I log on I hope she has changed back but she's stuck with this one forever. I never understood why she changed in the first place. Evo, PLEASE, you are so much prettier than some work of art.

I would never say anything bad about Evo's avatar, so I'm glad you did.

Yes, change it back! :approve:

You're already a Halloween cristo.

I can't forget it. She had a couple, my favorite was the one where she had a goofy look on her face and she is sitting at her computer. She is an absolutely stunning woman and to replace her avatar with a "masterpiece" is such a step down that I think less of her for doing it.
Evo you are a smart woman with a great personality. WE GET IT! That's how we judge you, but there is nothing wrong with being hot. Embrace it and give me a little pleasure.
Its been two or three years and I can still picture it in my head. Its the only reason I still talk to you.

I like evo's avatar. A piece of art has a sense of enigma. That's good. I first found physics forums when writing my Ph.D. thesis (homework helping was a good shift from my own writing... then of course there's the procrastination factor overall... ). From this time period, I really remember Evo's avatar best. Her avatar gave me a sense of comfort and peace.

Then of course, there was, at one point, the mysterious penguino/penqwuino. Math is Hard posted a great picture of what I assumed was his avatar... I'll have to look it up on my old laptop... it's since been removed (it was on the funnest member thread of '07).
