How can I obtain Frequency Response Functions from ANSYS software?

Click For Summary
To obtain Frequency Response Functions (FRFs) from ANSYS, a harmonic analysis over a range of frequencies is necessary, focusing on a specific node to plot displacement. Time-varying forces cannot be applied in harmonic analysis, as it requires steady, cyclic conditions. For transient loads, a transient analysis is recommended, but FRFs cannot be directly obtained from this method. Additionally, stiffness matrix and mode shape values can be extracted from ANSYS, but further clarification on the specific requirements is needed. Understanding the differences between harmonic and transient analyses is crucial for accurate results.

Hi all,
I want to get Frequency Response Functions from ANSYS software. Can anyone give me a guideline?

Thank you.

You're going to need to elaborate quite a bit more on what you mean exactly.

If you mean what I think you mean, you'll need to do a harmonic analysis over a range of frequencies. Pick a node of interest, and use the time-dependent processor to plot displacement over frequency.

I have time varying force. Is there any possibility to apply such type of load in harmonic analysis. I know transient analysis can do it. If load can't be applied in harmonic analysis, can I do transient analysis and is it possible to get FRF using MATLAB? Please help me.

Nope. A harmonic analysis is essentially a steady, cyclic condition. If you vary the force in time, then the response will not be purely cyclic.

So, we I mentioned before, you need to elaborate more. You want a response function as both a function of time and frequency?

What mathematics software should engineering students use? Is it correct that much of the engineering industry relies on MATLAB, making it the tool many graduates will encounter in professional settings? How does SageMath compare? It is a free package that supports both numerical and symbolic computation and can be installed on various platforms. Could it become more widely used because it is freely available? I am an academic who has taught engineering mathematics, and taught the...
