How Do Incline Angle Changes Affect Normal and Friction Forces?

AI Thread Summary
As the incline angle θ increases, the normal force acting on the block decreases, while the static friction force increases to counteract the component of gravitational force parallel to the incline. The block remains at rest until the angle reaches a critical point where static friction can no longer hold it in place. For the second question, the net force acting on the stone is calculated by subtracting air resistance from its weight, leading to a net force of 8 N. This results in an acceleration of 8 m/s² when applying Newton's second law. It is important to show work for both problems to facilitate understanding and assistance.

Two questions! PLEASE HELP :)

Homework Statement

A block rests on an incline that makes angle θ with the horizontal. The block remains at rest as θ is slowly increased. What happens to the magnitudes of the normal force and the static friction force of the incline on the block?

A stone of mass 1 kg and weight 10 N falls through the air. The air resistance acting on the stone is 2 N. What is the acceleration of the stone?

Please explain both answers. THANK YOU!

1. It makes it easier if you have each question in its own thread. This way we all don't have to guess which question each post in the tread is talking about.
2. You haven't shown any work. We can't help you until you show us some work.

Let's concentrate on the first problem. After you've read the forum rules, specifically the ones pertaining to the homework forum, post the second question as a new thread.

What seems to have you stumped?

Thread 'Voltmeter readings for this circuit with switches'
TL;DR Summary: I would like to know the voltmeter readings on the two resistors separately in the picture in the following cases , When one of the keys is closed When both of them are opened (Knowing that the battery has negligible internal resistance) My thoughts for the first case , one of them must be 12 volt while the other is 0 The second case we'll I think both voltmeter readings should be 12 volt since they are both parallel to the battery and they involve the key within what the...
Thread 'Correct statement about a reservoir with an outlet pipe'
The answer to this question is statements (ii) and (iv) are correct. (i) This is FALSE because the speed of water in the tap is greater than speed at the water surface (ii) I don't even understand this statement. What does the "seal" part have to do with water flowing out? Won't the water still flow out through the tap until the tank is empty whether the reservoir is sealed or not? (iii) In my opinion, this statement would be correct. Increasing the gravitational potential energy of the...
