AI Thread Summary
The floating match trick involves a leaning matchstick supported by an upright matchstick, with a coin placed underneath the leaning match. When the center of the leaning match is ignited, it heats up and causes the match to bend due to thermal expansion. As the match bends, it creates a balance that allows it to appear to float, enabling the removal of the coin without the match falling. The trick relies on principles of physics, particularly thermal expansion and balance. Understanding these concepts clarifies how the illusion is achieved.

So i saw a trick the other day where you place a coin under a match, and that match is leaning against another match that is standing upright, if you light the center of the leaning match on fire then it will start to float and you can remove the coin, what i am asking is how this works. Here is an example:

Assume that this is a case where by sheer coincidence, two sources of coherent single-frequency EM wave pulses with equal duration are both fired in opposing directions, with both carrying the same frequency and amplitude and orientation. These two waves meet head-on while moving in opposing directions, and their phases are precisely offset by 180 degrees so that each trough of one wave meets with the crest of the other. This should be true for both the electric and magnetic components of...
