How Is Negative Permittivity Achieved Using the Wire-Mesh Method?

AI Thread Summary
Negative permittivity is achieved using the wire-mesh method by manipulating the arrangement and dimensions of metallic wires to create a specific electromagnetic response. This method relies on the interaction of incident electromagnetic waves with the wire mesh, which can support surface plasmons, leading to a negative dielectric constant. The discussion highlights the complexity of understanding this phenomenon compared to traditional methods involving metals. Additionally, there is interest in the broader implications of metamaterials in achieving unique electromagnetic properties. Overall, the wire-mesh method offers a novel approach to engineering materials with tailored permittivity.

could anyone offer a decent explanation of how a negative permittivity (dielectric constant) is obtained using the wire-mesh method.. i understand the process with plasmons and metals but this one seems a bit beyond me at the moment <<! any thoughts??

even any thoughts on metamaterials in general would be nice

Thread 'Is there a white hole inside every black hole?'
This is what I am thinking. How much feasible is it? There is a white hole inside every black hole The white hole spits mass/energy out continuously The mass/energy that is spit out of a white hole drops back into it eventually. This is because of extreme space time curvature around the white hole Ironically this extreme space time curvature of the space around a white hole is caused by the huge mass/energy packed in the white hole Because of continuously spitting mass/energy which keeps...
