Is Aeronautics the Future for Aspiring Astrophysicists?

AI Thread Summary
Aeronautics and Astrophysics are seen as appealing specializations for aspiring astrophysicists, with a strong interest in quantum physics and electronics also noted. The desire to specialize early is expressed, despite the understanding of the importance of a general physics education. The discussion highlights a concern about the potential dangers of neglecting quantum physics studies. Additionally, the act of building in electronics is mentioned as a motivating factor for pursuing that field. Overall, there is a clear enthusiasm for aeronautics as a future path in the context of astrophysics.

In 2010 I will be doing my third year,

Aeronautics and Astrophysics seems to be calling to me,
the only other specialization of interest is quantum physics and maybe electronics,

I know I shouldn't really abandon a more general physics education, but I really want to start specializing now!

I remember reading in one of my Quantum physics books how dangerous it would be for the human race to stop studying Quantum physics and that is the reason why I still take papers that involve it,

and I only do electronics papers because it involves building things,

does anyone else feel the need to do Aeronautics?

Oh Carl!

He is THE reason I ended up doing astrophysics. Unfortunately, I never finished the "astro" part.

Abstract The Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) has significantly advanced our ability to study black holes, achieving unprecedented spatial resolution and revealing horizon-scale structures. Notably, these observations feature a distinctive dark shadow—primarily arising from faint jet emissions—surrounded by a bright photon ring. Anticipated upgrades of the EHT promise substantial improvements in dynamic range, enabling deeper exploration of low-background regions, particularly the inner shadow...
