AI Thread Summary
Mass is defined as the amount of matter in an object, which is influenced by both density and volume. When volume is constant, an increase in density results in an increase in mass. The discussion highlights that while weight is affected by mass, gravitational acceleration remains constant regardless of mass changes. The relationship between mass, volume, and density is emphasized, noting that increasing density at a fixed volume equates to adding matter. The conversation also touches on the challenges of articulating these concepts clearly, particularly for non-native speakers.

mass?? or volume??

hi,

what is mass? the weight depended on mass, and the density also depended on mass. In the other side, the density and volume also depended on mass. so, what is the mass?

Let say, the mass is the multiply of density and volume. When the volume is fixed, the mass will increase as the density increase. Why? Let the volume be the space of whole object occupied, can mass be the space of the object occupied without interspace between the proton, neuron or even smaller object? In this case, the density is mass (real volume) divide by the volume (space).

we all know, everything have the same gravitational acceleration. however the weight increase, the gravitational acceleration will not increase. So, I think the mass may be the volume without interspace.

Do you have any idea about this?

This only refers to a change in mass of the smaller of 2 objects you are observing. When you increase the mass of the smaller object, the larger object is pulled faster towards it. Although in everyday life this isn't apparent because everything on our scale is so much less massive than the Earth that it has only a negligible effect.

Mass is a property of all matter. When you add matter, no matter how or in what way, the mass of an object will always increase. The volume and density of an object has nothing to do with the mass, but increasing the density of something and keeping the volume the same is simply adding matter to it, so the mass will increase.

Honestly, I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding your post. I suggest that you try to use a little better grammar and such so that people will be able to understand what you are saying. Of course, if english isn't your first language then I can understand that.

thanks,

As you say, my language is bad.I even cannot describe my thinking very well. This has been effect me in my studies. But, i will try to improve my language.

I am following someone on Youtube who has built a rocket shaped (4 proprllers) drone for the world speed record ... He was having problems with internal heat from electical control gear and battery inside the sealed rocket (about 1kw waste heat) Speed is 500km/hr , I suggested a 4mm hole in the tip of the nose and 8mm hole at rear which should alow sufficient air cooling .. I said this will increase thrust because the air exiting is hotter .. a bit similar to a ram jet ... was I correct...
