Plotting Graphs: Tips & Shortcuts

AI Thread Summary
For plotting complex functions like xsin(x) and tan(x) - x, several software options are recommended, including GNUplot, GraphCalc, and Graph, which are noted for their user-friendliness and functionality. GNUplot is highlighted for its versatility across different operating systems, while GraphCalc is praised for its calculator-like interface. An online plotting applet is also suggested for quick access. Users appreciate the ease of use with Graph, which allows for immediate plotting without extensive setup. There's http://www.gnuplot.info/" , and I think the one named gp400win32.zip is the current windows version. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Here's a simple online plotting applet

Here's another interactive plotter [for Windows]

For something fancier [for Windows, DOS, Unix,...], GNUPlot is certainly better.

Thanks for the link. Currently I use GNUplot that comes along with Maxima. But I will give this one a try.

The program I like to use is called Graph. You can get it from www.padowan.dk. I like it because although it lacks some of the more advanced features (like 3D graphs) it is very easy to use. You don't have to spend days in front of your computer figuring out how to use it; you open it up, click the function button and everything becomes immediately clear from there.
