Problem involving Moment of Inertia

AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around a student's struggle to understand the concept of moment of inertia after missing a class. Despite receiving a basic explanation from the instructor and studying the topic independently, the student finds a particular problem challenging. They seek assistance from the forum, emphasizing the need for guidance on the problem-solving process rather than just the answer. A member provides a helpful link to resources on the parallel axis theorem and encourages the student to start working on the problem. The student expresses gratitude for the support and intends to share the solution once it is confirmed.

The Attempt at a Solution

I was absent when the physics instructor explained moment of inertia. I went to his office ,he explained to me the basics of this subject. When i asked him to help me in this question, he told me it is the most difficult question you can see in this course and you should solve it alone. Unfortunately, i could not understand how to solve it although he explained moment of inertia to me in addition,i studied it from the book. A friend of mine told me to seek help from this forum and here i am. This is worth marks and that's why i want you to help me... so please help me if possible, I am not looking for the answer, i need the way of sovling it..

Thanks in advance.

Thread 'Voltmeter readings for this circuit with switches'
TL;DR Summary: I would like to know the voltmeter readings on the two resistors separately in the picture in the following cases , When one of the keys is closed When both of them are opened (Knowing that the battery has negligible internal resistance) My thoughts for the first case , one of them must be 12 volt while the other is 0 The second case we'll I think both voltmeter readings should be 12 volt since they are both parallel to the battery and they involve the key within what the...
Thread 'Struggling to make relation between elastic force and height'
Hello guys this is what I tried so far. I used the UTS to calculate the force it needs when the rope tears. My idea was to make a relationship/ function that would give me the force depending on height. Yeah i couldnt find a way to solve it. I also thought about how I could use hooks law (how it was given to me in my script) with the thought of instead of having two part of a rope id have one singular rope from the middle to the top where I could find the difference in height. But the...
