Other Reading materials for cellular biology?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on recommended textbooks for studying molecular biology and related fields at the undergraduate level. "Molecular Biology of the Cell" by Alberts is highlighted as a standard reference, suitable for students who have completed at least one biology course. For those interested in a microscopic perspective of biological areas, molecular biology and biochemistry are emphasized as key topics. "Essential Cell Biology," also by Alberts et al., is noted for its use at the University of Toronto and is recommended for its accessibility. Additionally, "Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry" is suggested for intermediate undergraduate studies, while "Voet & Voet" is mentioned as a more advanced biochemistry reference.

Undergraduate level. What else biological areas are described in microscopic perspective?

Alberts is a good read for undergraduates who have taken at least one biology course already (some use an abridged version of the book for intro biology courses). As for studying biology at a molecular level, molecular biology and biochemistry are two topic I'd look into. These focus on understanding the molecules that carry out all of the cellular functions and how those molecules work. Alberts covers molecular biology pretty well, and I'd suggest Lehninger for an intermediate undergraduate level text on biochemistry (I use Voet & Voet as my biochemistry reference, though it's probably geared more toward advanced undergrads/graduate students).

This thread only works as a summary from the original source: List of STEM Masterworks in Physics, Mechanics, Electrodynamics... The original thread got very long and somewhat hard to read so I have compiled the recommendations from that thread in an online (Google Drive) spreadsheet. SUMMARY Permits are granted so you can make comments on the spreadsheet but I'll initially be the only one capable of edition. This is to avoid the possibility of someone deleting everything either by mistake...
