Most of the individual features (like hairs) you can see are affected b many different mutations. The big hairs have individual names and are found in almost all normal (wild type) individuals.
Each facet of the big eyes have 7 or 8 photo-receptors with different properties. They are assembled from embryonic cells in a sequence of interactions to make the the same facet structure over and over. Lots of mutants in those processes too.
