Struggling to find a balance with final year workload

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on managing an overwhelming workload in the final semester of a degree program, specifically balancing five classes and a thesis. Participants share experiences and strategies for effective time management and prioritization. Key points include the importance of identifying which classes require more attention and which can be deprioritized. Suggestions are made about planning revision schedules, with some advocating for dedicated days for thesis work versus class revision. The consensus emphasizes the need for a structured approach to avoid last-minute stress and the potential consequences of not managing time effectively, such as the risk of receiving a "W" (withdrawal) grade. Overall, the focus is on finding a sustainable balance to navigate the demanding academic workload.

Hi all,

I was looking for some advice for my course as I have just entered the final semester of my final year and already find the workload overwhelming. I'm also trying to avoid leaving everything last minute like I usually do :)

This semester I have 5 classes and a thesis to write(as well as experimental work) , would anyone happen to have any advice on this best way to 'balance' all of this maybe from your own experiences?

How much revision should I do a day? Should I be trying to finish my experimental work before starting my write up? Should I have separate days allocated for thesis/revision or both on the same day? Should I have any days off?

I'm just looking for a general idea of how people find this balance as I never seem to get it right and can't afford to mess things up at this stage.

Thanks!

Thats a stupendous load. Are any courses not needed for graduation?

I wish but I'm afraid they are all compulsory classes.

At this point you will just have to hold on, and seriously think about which classes need the most devotion and which ones you may be forced to (unfortunately) neglect. I am in the same situation, 5 math/physics/engineering classes and a capstone presentation. I should have dropped one but I don't want to get a W. I'd honestly take a C over a W.

TL;DR Summary: What topics to cover to safely say I know arithmetic ? I am learning arithmetic from Indian NCERT textbook. Currently I have finished addition ,substraction of 2 digit numbers and divisions, multiplication of 1 digit numbers. I am moving pretty slowly. Can someone tell me what topics to cover first to build a framework and then go on in detail. I want to learn fast. It has taken me a year now learning arithmetic. I want to speed up. Thanks for the help in advance. (I also...
Hi community My aim is to get into research about atoms, specifically, I want to do experimental research that explores questions like: 1. Why do Gallium/Mercury have low melting points 2. Why are there so many exceptions and inconsistencies when it comes to explaining molecular structures / reaction mechanisms in inorganic and organic chemistry 3. Experimental research about fundamental Quantum Mechanics, such as the one being followed by Hiroshima university that proved that observing...
guys i am currently studying in computer science engineering [1st yr]. i was intrested in physics when i was in high school. due to some circumstances i chose computer science engineering degree. so i want to incoporate computer science engineering with physics and i came across computational physics. i am intrested studying it but i dont know where to start. can you guys reccomend me some yt channels or some free courses or some other way to learn the computational physics.
