AI Thread Summary
New sneakers often squeak due to air being trapped between surfaces or friction from materials rubbing together. This annoying sound can occur when walking, especially on smooth floors. To resolve the issue, identifying the squeaking surfaces is crucial. Common solutions include removing the insole and applying baby powder to reduce friction. Effective tips for stopping sneaker squeaks can also be found on platforms like YouTube.

I just got a new pair of sneakers and they've reached the dreaded "squeaking stage", it's loud, annoying and I feel stupid in public with them squeaking so loud. I was wondering though, why do these new sneakers squeak, and is there a way to not make them squeak anymore?

They squeak, usually, from air being squeezed between two surfaces as you walk, or from two surfaces rubbing together like when you scuff across a polished floor - find the surfaces that squeak and you'll have your solution.

I am following someone on Youtube who has built a rocket shaped (4 proprllers) drone for the world speed record ... He was having problems with internal heat from electical control gear and battery inside the sealed rocket (about 1kw waste heat) Speed is 500km/hr , I suggested a 4mm hole in the tip of the nose and 8mm hole at rear which should alow sufficient air cooling .. I said this will increase thrust because the air exiting is hotter .. a bit similar to a ram jet ... was I correct...
