    Degrees Motor
AI Thread Summary
A user is seeking advice on a motor that can rotate a piece of metal 90 degrees using a simple switch. The discussion highlights the need for a mechanism to stop the motor after the rotation, suggesting the use of limit switches. A servo motor is recommended for precise control, along with a gear system to facilitate the movement. Additionally, a two-way switch can be employed to reverse the direction of the motor. Overall, the conversation emphasizes the importance of additional components for effective operation.

Hi everyone, learning a bit of hands on engineering and have no idea what to search in order to buy what is needed. I am looking for a motor that can be activated by a simple switch on a wire that will rotate a piece of metal 90 . degrees. Excuse the poor image but hopefully someone can point me in right direction for this project.

You are going to need more than just a switch and a motor, I think. The switch can tell the motor to turn but you have to have something to tell the motor to stop turning. How about the reverse? Do you want the piece to be able to rotate back to its original position?

Yeah basically to throw a switch that will move it 90 degrees one way and then flip it the other direction to move it 90 degrees back to the original starting position. Is there anything premade that might work for this?

Doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard of but just 'cause I don't know doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Have you considered using a servo motor?

If the rods are hinged attach a large gear to one of them parallel to the horizontal i.e. like a hand grinder with 2 handles. Then connect a simple DC motor to it via a smaller gear. Use a 2 way switch to operate the motor.

If you need stops use limit switches and a few more wires

Here's a video by “driving 4 answers” who seems to me to be well versed on the details of Internal Combustion engines. The video does cover something that's a bit shrouded in 'conspiracy theory', and he touches on that, but of course for phys.org, I'm only interested in the actual science involved. He analyzes the claim of achieving 100 mpg with a 427 cubic inch V8 1970 Ford Galaxy in 1977. Only the fuel supply system was modified. I was surprised that he feels the claim could have been...
TL;DR Summary: Heard in the news about using sonar to locate the sub Hello : After the sinking of the ship near the Greek shores , carrying of alot of people , there was another accident that include 5 tourists and a submarine visiting the titanic , which went missing Some technical notes captured my attention, that there us few sonar devices are hearing sounds repeated every 30 seconds , but they are not able to locate the source Is it possible that the sound waves are reflecting from...
