In summary, the conversation is about a senior student who is homeschooled and needs recommendations for a physics course or textbook that is algebra-based. The parent is also looking for a teacher's guide to assess the student's knowledge and is considering a web-based program or cheap literature from Dover books. Some recommended resources are a pair of books from Amazon and a digital book from Kinetic books.

My son is a senior and is home schooled under an umbrella school in our state. I have to keep records etc and he has to do state testing.

My son wants to do physics this year and I need recommendations for a course or textbook he can use to self study and a teachers guide I can give him tests from, I have to be able to asses his knowledge. It could even be web based.

It needs to be algebra based as he has not had calculus yet.

Thank you

Also, check out Dover books on physics for some very, very cheap literature. The books are generally old fashioned style-ie to the point.

I would recommend looking into online resources such as Khan Academy or MIT OpenCourseWare for a comprehensive and interactive approach to learning physics. These platforms offer free courses and materials that are suitable for self-study and can be tailored to the student's level of understanding. Additionally, they provide resources for assessments and progress tracking. It is important to ensure that the course or textbook chosen is aligned with the state testing requirements and covers the necessary topics in an algebra-based format. I would also suggest seeking out online forums or communities where your son can connect with other homeschoolers studying physics and potentially find study partners or mentors. Best of luck in your search for the perfect physics curriculum for your son!
