In summary, relying on pop-sci presentations for physics knowledge can be dangerous as they often oversimplify complex concepts, omit important details, and present misleading information. This can lead to a distorted understanding of physics and can hinder the development of critical thinking skills. Additionally, pop-sci presentations may prioritize entertainment over accuracy, resulting in the spread of false information and perpetuating misconceptions. It is important to seek out reliable and accurate sources for physics knowledge in order to avoid potential dangers.

How did you find PF?
Google search for "Physics Forums"
I am not a formal student of physics so I always end up getting quasi-suitable answers via the web. My hope is that this forum will alleviate some of that uncertainty. Thanks for having me onboard.

Welcome to the forum. If you're not a "formal student of physics" I suspect you get most of your physics "knowledge" from pop-sci presentations. I put knowledge in quotes because those presentations are entertainment, not education and we spend a lot of time debunking the fallacies of such presentation. They're fun to watch and read but don't start with the assumption that what they say is true.

You're in the right place to get valid answers.
