What do you think of the Canadians on PF?

  • Thread starter Smurf
  • Start date
In summary, the conversation explores the topic of the differences between Americans and Canadians, and how that can lead to feelings of animosity. The original speaker expresses mild animosity towards most Canadians, but also acknowledges that there are exceptions. The conversation then delves into the definition of "Asian-style" and what it means to be Canadian or American. It is suggested that the animosity may stem from personal perspectives rather than cultural differences. The conversation ends with a plea to unite as humans and not judge others based on their nationality.

Yes, I believe that was one Solomon's proverbs that just didn't make the final cut. They were quite uptight back then - and with all the sordid buggers poking around, no wonder.

Yeah Basketball sucks. The Canadian that invented it was a traitor. Lacrosse is Canadian, invented in Montreal I think (emphasis on I think).

Lacross was invented by north american natives

Also, according to the South Park movie, the Canadian government has apologized several times for Brian Adams.

And golf was invented in Scotland. Someone asked that back there somewhere.

Or choose an appropriate color...
Climate: Mediterranean along coast; dry, extreme desert interior

Terrain: mostly barren, flat to undulating plains, plateaus, depressions

Land use: arable land: 1.03%
permanent crops: 0.19%
other: 98.78%
(2001)

Natural hazards: hot, dry, dust-laden ghibli is a southern wind lasting one to four days in spring and fall; dust storms, sandstorms

Environment - current issues: desertification; very limited natural fresh water resources; the Great Manmade River Project, the largest water development scheme in the world, is being built to bring water from large aquifers under the Sahara to coastal cities

Geography - note: more than 90% of the country is desert or semidesert
Yeah, nothing says barren desert like lots of green.

Flag description: plain green; green is the traditional color of Islam (the state religion)
Whatever, I already typed the post. It's probably just a coincidence anyway. Consider the source: http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/ly.html

I'm just picturing kids in arts and crafts class being told to make their country's flag, and they all run over to the stack of construction paper and pull out the green sheets, stick it on a popsicle stick, and they're done. I hope Crayola knows to include extra green crayons if they sell school supplies over there.

You know, I always wondered why Canadians that came down to Florida always wore those speedos. Now I know.

Sure, but I'm also an NFL fan, and desire that anyone speaking of the NFL mascots be knowledgeable of NFL mascots. Moving onto the MLB, though, no one beats the Milwaukee Brewers:

Canada has to have the whimpiest flag ever. we have stars and stripes that represent our history. mexico has an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake from the aztec legends, but Canada has a leaf?! WTF?

  • #198
any flag that needs to clutter it with colours and objects seem to have the need to make up for something.

In 1921, King George V proclaimed the official colours of Canada as red, from the Saint George's Cross, and white, from the French royal emblem since King Charles VII.
As early as 1700, the maple leaf began to serve as a symbol celebrating Canada's nature and environment.

That, as far as I know, fits our history

That's because the liberals chose it.

In one of the classrooms at my school there is a poster that has all the top proposed Canadian flags...some of them were so much cooler than the leaf.

Now adding to the war...Americans don't know how to spell "colour".

hehe, actually when I am browsing around PF I don't even notice where people are from most of the time, I read people's posts and to me it's as if rather than having nationalities, we all just have the fact that we all live on the same planet. Well, until this thread, because in this thread it surely doesn't seem that way. I find it kind of stupid that people steryotype others due to nationality,

I'm in Canada and I hear Canadians all the time steryotyping Americans (mostly negatively) and i always stand up for the Americans because in many cases, the Canadians (in these cases not all Canadians) are wrong to judge people a certain way before even knowing them. My history teacher last year was very anti-american, (and very leftist) and i couldn't stand listening to her because it made her sound like such a retard making such large generalizations. (and because I'm right wing so I never agreed with her in the first place)

For example, we took a trip to NYC and at the border she was following the US border guy down the isle of the coach and trying to do what she thought was 'help him do his job' so he told her to shut up and go sit down. (HILARIOUS if you were there and knew my teacher...I could see her trying to avoid hitting him over the back of the head...thank god she didn't). So anyway, afterwards she went on about how americans are so rude and impolite etc...after one american example. I felt like saying there are people from every country like that not just the US and also just because he was like that doesn't mean all americans are.

So basically I think I'm saying that (this is going to be lame) "you can't judge a book by its' cover".

well i don't know what u call to the flag of my country, but i call it unique :approve: .
while making it the makers kept in mind the hindu flag structure (triangle) and put 2 triangles. red for courage and blue for peace. sun and moon for life of the country till they(sun & moon) exist.

They team up with soon to be giant Penguin based media corporations in the US to try to sell people a load of horsecrap they just want to hear for pure profit!

Me and evo are basically going to take over Microsoft and literally eliminate our competitors. No more of this open source alternative BS.
