AI Thread Summary
Energy that has nowhere to transfer remains in its current state and can be stored as potential energy. It is inherently linked to systems of matter, fields, or particles, and cannot exist in isolation. The discussion also touches on the idea that energy could convert into matter, particularly in scenarios involving particle annihilation, which typically results in the emission of photons. The concept of energy transfer requires a medium or system to facilitate the movement of energy. Overall, energy's behavior is contingent on its association with physical systems.

I am wondering what happens to energy when it has nowhere to transfer because it doesn't make sense to me that energy can be pure because it must have some kind of way of moving itself. My assumption is that energy will convert itself into matter as a way of transferring. Can someone please help me if this is a logical explanation or does some other event happen?

What sort of reaction are you thinking of when you talk about energy transfer?

Well, I suppose that the energy must be passed through a medium of sorts if that is what you are asking.

What is the source of energy in this scenario?

I never really thought of that but I suppose that the energy source could have been the annihilation of two particles

In that case usually two photons are produced, which go off in opposite directions as radiation.

Thank you for the answer.

If it has nowhere to transfer then it stays where it is.

This is correct. Energy is always associated with some system of matter, fields, particles, etc.

Then it's stored as potential energy !
