ANALOG Computing (an acronym for Atari Newsletter And Lots Of Games) was an American computer magazine devoted to Atari 8-bit family of home computers. It was published from 1981 until 1989. In addition to reviews and tutorials, ANALOG printed multiple programs in each issue for users to type in. The magazine had a reputation for listings of machine language games–much smoother than those written in Atari BASIC—and which were uncommon in competing magazines. Such games were accompanied by the assembly language source code. ANALOG also sold commercial games, two books of type-in software, and access to a custom bulletin-board system.
Originally the title as printed on the cover was A.N.A.L.O.G. 400/800 Magazine, but by the eighth issue it changed to A.N.A.L.O.G. Computing. Though the dots remained in the logo, it was simply referred to as ANALOG or ANALOG Computing inside the magazine.
While the program listings were covered under the magazine's copyright protections, users were granted the right to type them into their computer for personal use, so long as they were not sold or copied.
Hi, I am ultimately looking to be able to have an analog circuit with an amplifier that uses a pot for the resistor over the op amp (maybe there's a better way, let me know if there is). I want to be able to control the shape of the gain roll-on/roll-off, and have it be functions of R...
How did you find PF?: I have been trying desperately to correct a mistake I made when I received my new Zantum Class 0.5 10-15v voltmeter. The 2 screws on the back I thought were for wiring. Sure enough I found out they were calibration screws. I willy nilly began turning them thinking "is this...
Some of the great Analog Engineers and Teachers have passed; Bob Pease, Jim Williams, R. David Middlebrook.
I would like to inform/remind engineers and students interested in Analog Design of Dr. R.David Middlebrooks work. He was a prolific author and many of his papers are available through...
In classical statistical physics, entropy can be defined either as Boltzmann entropy or Gibbs entropy. In quantum statistical physics we have von Neumann entropy, which is a quantum analog of Gibbs entropy. Is there a quantum analog of Boltzmann entropy?
I am researching self-learning AI, and one of the most talked of solutions is returning to analog computing. Analog computing uses real time changes in voltage and frequency to run calculations or perform functions. Does anyone have any experience in building electronic analog computers based on...
I'm not sure if this is the right sub-forum for this question but I've been reading online about solving differential equations with analog circuits for a while now and I wanted to get started by making my own circuits. So far I've found some DIY articles and cursory guides but I'd rather get...
I am reading How computers work and I don’t grasp it. So how is light ultimately get transformed into a beautiful picture on screen in a digital camera? I have got D5200 Nikon. It’s a nice begineers camera.
In our fourth semester academic curriculum, we have a paper on Analog Electronics. (For those who don't know: I am studying UG physics major.) I have found some good lectures online that cover a part of the course, but I don't have any material for the rest of the topics. The following topics...
Hi, I have to measure the HP of a small engine at the crankshaft. The only usable things are.
A dinamometer
A brake disk
An rpm meter
The brake caliper is floating so when we apply de load it pull the dinamometer.
The rpm meter show the revolution during the load apply. It can works?
How I...
Dr. R. David Middlebrook was a very well known professor of analog engineering at Caltech. He was also a cofounder of the power supply design and analysis group "Teslaco". Dr. Middlebrook developed a program "Technical Therapy for Analog Circuit Designers". The dvd was available for several...
I need to find A_v, I want to relate Vin to Vout. To do this I did KVL on the major loop:
$$V_{DD} = I_D*R_D + V_{SD1} - V_{SD2} - I_D*R_D$$
Since M1 = M2 then everything would cancel out and I would just get V_dd = 0 which is probably wrong. This is assuming V_sd1 = V_sd2, is that correct?
Through my 2 analog classes and 2 electronics classes I have learned about resistors, inductors, capacitors, BJTs, Mosfets, and FETS. What are some other fundamental components that I should be taking a look at? To add to this, I don't consider gates as fundamental because they are built up from...
I had a talk with a friend of mine , just wanted to make sure I'm not wrong.
I actually have one older CRT set with an open back in another room so I went to check my "question" out a bit before asking.
1) Is it right that the video signal (after some input demodulation etc boards) directly...
The open loop voltage gain is given as :
$$ u(s) = \frac{u_o}{1+\frac{s}{w_o}} = \frac{100}{1 + \frac{s}{40}}$$
Where u_o is the d.c. voltage gain and w_o is the pole.
The op amp that is given is:
And I am told to use the non ideal op amp model as follows:
Well my guess is that I can find the...
I have an old VCR and a library of video tape recordings I have not played for quite a few years. The output of the VCR is the old analog Channel 3 TV signal which fed into the aerial input of the old analog TV. I now have a digital TV and there is no Channel 3. There is instead, for example, a...
https://www.flairespresso.com/product-page/flair-signature made a manual espresso machine and specify using 30 lb of pressure in the manual. In order to determine the correct pressure, they literally tell the user to push down on a kitchen scale. I'm considering a competing product, and that...
Hi all. So is anyone having any luck with sw. power PCB mount supply modules for mixed signal? I have been experimenting with little DC-DC +5, +-15 and the TDK-Lambda AC/+5/+-15 power module. I have a mixed signal design that has a small size and low weight factor in my design.
I have about...
Greetings. I have a system that is powered by 5V . You will see below in the image. The system displays the difference between the Hi and Lo signal digitally, on the display which the board is plugged into. However. I want to store the data maybe in a SD card? Using Arduino? How do I harness the...
