I am new to interrupts, so i have made a simple program using a timer interrupt to cause a delay of about 1 sec in displaying the binary numbers. However I have failed to achieve this.
Anyone knows the problem with my program?
any assitance will be highly appreciated.

Freezing the soda can will makes the soda can contract, thus increasing the pressure of the soda. P=F/a.
However, as pressure had increase, to the air particles in the soda can will have...
Hi everyone,
Not sure if this should be here or in the chemistry section. It's a question about chemical reactions in aluminium.
I work for a construction company and we have a number of aluminium sheets used for cladding and roofing. We've noticed that some of these have a blacking and...
What if someone took a jet engine and took out the combustion and turbine mechanism. Then that person found an outside source to power the compression mechanism. Can the compression mechanism alone produce significant thrust? That is, with an outside power that does not add heat into the system...
I am a bit of Physics noob and I am reading some of Newton's stuff. But I am trying to figure why gravity exists.
There is the theory of gravitons, but aren't they impossible using Stranded Model?
Hey there
Why did the big bang happened? what made it happen? what is the cause of the big bang?
Could be vacuum fluctuations?
Or a collision between different branes or universes?
Could be some sort of a creator?
What is the most proved and most appropriate theory that talks about...
Hi,
I once read a book that stated that scientists had somewhere a couple of years or decades ago (not sure) performed an experiment in which they had somehow proven that an effect occurred or could basically occur before the cause even happened.
I was wondering if this actually is true...
I've often heard the cliche that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I think that the cliche tends to be true. Look at Stalin, Lenin, Saddam Hussein, King George the Third, Kim Jung II of Korea, etc. Most of these monarchs and/or dictators were not revolutionary leaders...
In an electric current there must be forces that push electrons in a general direction (current). My question is, what creates this force (electromotive force)?
I assume that this force, that moves electrons, is created by a surplus of electrons in one area. Perhaps they move because the...
It is apparently linked to photo sensitvity disorder.

BEEEEEE careful if you have pototsenstivity disorder.

Could there be x,y,z coordinates in time that is in the the same place as the x,y,z coordinates in space, which would cause an "random" event at that location in space? If there are things like time locks which opens only at certain times, does the universe work the same way?
I have n comparable sets of data, several thousand numbered values in each set. A certain number can be calculated by choosing m of these sets, let's call it S_m. Now, the value of S_m depends on which sets I choose, so it can be thought of as a function of m variables which can only take...
Simple question (derived from some unanswered posts from various posters)...
Does acceleration cause time dilation? Can someone shed light on this one?
There seems two conflicting claims:
acceleration cause time dilation
acceleration does not cause time dilation
Ten years ago, I posted a long rambling post concluding with a thought-experiment on Usenet, and got no useful feedback. I'd like to try again here. I'd like to post a link to the original post, as it includes details on how I'd go about measuring the effect that I predict, but I don't seem to...
Can Global Warming Cause Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes and Volcanic Eruption?. I know this is all normal but I mean can it cause it to be more extreme and happen more often?.
I posed this question to my brother and father-in-law yesterday and they disagreed with the premise of the question, let alone the result. They debated the physics involved.
Weather is generally a result of the sun's uneven heating of the atmosphere and the resulting convection currents, ie...
I hope this not a dumb question. In t.v. programs I see about String Theory there is something vibrating or oscillating. What's vibrating or oscillating I don't know, but what is causing the vibration or oscillation.

Scientists have long known that a particle of some sort, often dust or soot, is needed to form an ice crystal in the atmosphere. Moisture in the atmosphere clings to the tiny ice crystal and freezes, too. The ice crystal gets...

Assuming I have a simple body, like a box, with known center of mass, how do I find the applied force, through its center of mass that will cause the object to tip over? The object is at rest on a flat surface.

I would like to know what are some examples of what two nuclei would have to experience in order to become entangled. Could being part of the same molecule yield such a state? or would they have to be, say, daughter products of a nuclear reaction, etc?
big thanks,
Mark
I get that when a car moves forward, its tires are rotating backwards, but the static friction from the ground, as a reaction force to the force from the tires, prevents the tires from moving backwards (not sure on this). So does the static friction only prevent the tires from moving backwards...
Take the case of a lamp bulb. When applied an Alternating current across it.. it basically goes on and off 50 times in a second [in India atleast.. we get 50Hz]. Now, it means that the filament gets hold and cold continuously. From wikipedia:
so.. is alternating current more damaging for...
like if I was to say "this beam can take this much load" does that mean if you put any more load on it, it will crack? Sorry if this is a confusing question, help my understanding if you can.
1. A 0.180g plastic bead is charged by the addition of 0.700 x 10^10 excess electrons. What electric field strength will cause the bead to hang suspended in the air?
2. Is amount of excess electrons the exact same as the charge of the bead??
3. I am sure you use F=qE. But I am...

The gravitational attraction of the Sun and Moon on the Earth produces tides. The Sun's tidal effect is about half as great as the Moon's. The direct pull of the Sun on the Earth, however, is about 175 times that of the Moon. Why is it that the Moon causes larger tides...
I've scanned some literature, but could not find a description of the mechanism that causes the "thin vertical wind"* from the accretion disk of a quasar. Can someone please explain or point me to an accessible paper?

Here is an article about the Holographic Principle found on Wiki, then please read my comments below:
If new bits can actually create area (volume as described above), maybe the universe is expanding because its bits are increasing? Maybe since humans have developed computers and we are...
We've all heard that water spirals down the drain in a clockwise direction in the Southern hemisphere and counter- (or anti-) clockwise in the Northern hemisphere, due to the Coriolis effect from the rotation of the Earth. I've also heard that this is a myth, and that if you calculate the...
I got in an argument and I was defending one of the theories about Venus' slow prograde rotation. I'm defending the theory which states that atmospheric friction, over a period of billions of years slowed initially fast rotation of Venus and made it go prograde.
My opponent says that it...
One of the most puzzling things yet useful is friction.Although we haven't totally understood it very well, we have certain equations for them
F(limiting)=\muN
[as F(limiting) is directly proportional to the weight of the body)
But, what is the main cause of this force, Is it because of...
my dvd writer seems to have gone mad. i burned 5 sony dvd's first n they all were fine, then the next one got thrashed and then 2-3 dvd's got wasted. again few next dvd's were fine. all my dvd's were of sony. things continued. now i have about 10-12 fine working dvd's and same number of "REALLY...
Hello again
My textbook states that: "Resistance of a given conductor is due to the collisions of free electrons with the ions or atoms of the conductor while drifting towards the positive end of the conductor."
What is meant by "collision" here? If we think deeply, can the free electrons...
Hi
In our textbooks, they say that friction originates due to electrostatic charges. But electrostatic charges themselves originate due to friction. Then what is the real reason behind friction? I have searched extensively on the internet, but nobody seems to know exactly how friction is...
does the fusion process cause a chain reaction? or in a fusion reactor are lots of hydrogen atoms released to produce energy. does a fusion reactor heat water and produce steam to generate electricity? if you know anything then please let me know. thanks
From what I gather so far, 2 main concepts determine if an object can float or not: 1) Archimede's buoyancy principle 2) Surface Tension.
Is the above reasoning correct? Are there any other concept?
As far a I know it's only the combination of Hydrogen, and Oxygen Atoms that cause explosion/burn, and that if there's other atoms in the mix it just causes a slower reaction. Is this true, if not then what other atoms cause explosion/burn?
