Do you think computers cause...
blindness, heartattacks, cancer, you know -- all of the ones that everyone include while generalizing causes.
Do you think that research will show, that just like cell phones, computers can affect us in a negative way?
I remember reading a while ago that the fabric of space has a texture and thus would cause friction. Even in a perfect vacuum a spacecraft would slow down over time due to this.
Is this an accepted theory?
Can anyone here explain me as to what causes the spin of a billiard ball and is this 'spin of a ball', in any way, related to the spin of the 'celestial balls'?

There is this house down the street which has one of those new, white plastic vinyl fences around the front yard.
This particular fence is constructed in such a way as the vertical members are the width of the spacing between members(about 2 inches or so)
More importantly, the top of the fence...
Because dark energy and baryonic matter have mass densities of the
same order -
about 10^ - 27 kg / m^3, their total mass in the universe is similar.
This would be the case if dark energy caused the inertia of baryonic
matter, wouldn't it? (analagous to Mach saying that the distant stars...
My question concerns gravitational time dilation and time time dilation due to motion. If an outside observer views a person falling into a black hole to stand still when the person falling into the event horizon due to time standing still at the horizon, then why don't particle physicists view...
After going up in the mountains where i live i started getting annoyed at how washboard the roads were. Logging trucks go up this road alot.
Is the design of the rear differential to blame for washboard roads? Seems to me to be the case since the bumps are evenly spaced.
Cheers

It's really frightening what this dihydrogen monoxide can do. I've heard that without it, none of the current viruses or bacteria that are currently around could survive. It's apparently used widely with no regulation at all, and is found almost everywhere on earth, from...
Is it possible for a baby to be born with the Genetic makeup that will cause that child to grow into being a serial killer? Possible but probably not very probable. Did a lousy childhood bring this behavior about? Good possibility. But what could be other causes to bring about such an...

The aim of Philosophy is to pursue knowledge, understanding, and wisdom (usually in that order). There are many branches of Philosophy, and each branch has it's own limitations, which are not usually limitations of the whole of Philosophy...

A group at University of Washington, Fardon et al
just posted "Dark Energy from Mass-Varying Neutrinos"
which does not seem to me as far-fetched as other speculation I've seen about cause of DE
they seem to think that some element of their idea is...

Suppose for a moment, in the spirit of certain out-there physical theories, that parallel universes exist. Suppose more specifically that for every possible permutation of matter and energy in the universe, there exist corresponding parallel...

Causality
Causality, the law of cause and effect, is the most general law used to describe the (physical) reality. The common conviction was that causality holds everywhere, at all time and in all cases.
Since modern physcics and quantum mecahnics, this concept of reality has been altered...

In thought experiments that I have done, I've always thought that there was another universe that is sort of an inverse to ours. It is composed of antimatter (it has "reversed" gravity-a force that repels) and its laws of physics are governed by imaginary numbers (i). If these two universes...
Particle-wave duality is caused by the motion of particles in the fabric of space. The outward motion of matter in the big bang is therefore balanced by inward directed fabric of space, maintaining a full continuity of volume, just as air moves into a suitcase when you take clothes out of it...
