Hello
I am designing a solar oven that will be used to form denture moulds.
My thoughts are designing an insulated box with a doubloe pane glass double creating a green house effect.
But i would like to incorporate solar panels and a wired heated filament.
My question is what is the...
Hello, total layman here. I have some questions & ideas, but no one to discuss them with, so here I am.

i would like to design a solar assisted driving mechanism for my bicycle?
What is the compatible battery specifications to power 24v 1hp dc motor and the necessary solar panel specification to charge the battery? I'm kinda clueless in this so any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks
Solar position and velocity vectors -- Use?
What are the solar position and velocity vectors used for? A program I'm working with requires them to help construct the trajectory of a meteor. Do they somehow become useful in calculating the orbit of the meteor?
Aside from their use, I'm...
The panels are up. 7kW system will be 110% of our electrical needs. Grid intertie, no batteries, no pile of money up front: $109/month for the next 15 years.
Plus dig the new deck I built last summer.

I am reposting an edited version of this problem from a previous post of mine, due to it not being entirely relevant to that post, and also the question was asked after the thread had been replied to, so looks like an answered question. I also aim to give more detail here...

And directly related to that: How can we be sure of the speed of light? I've been searching for a good answer as to how we measure the SOL and am yet to have someone give me a solid explanation. Today we shine a laser at a mirror on the moon and time how long it takes to get back. What it...
If I keep this up, I'm going to get a rep around here :).
So, I recently acquired a fiberglass satellite dish which I plan to use for building a cheap, solar powered distillation machine. The idea is to have the dish, calculate the focal point, and run a double glass plated chamber at the focal...
My son is a 3rd grader and wanted to do a science fair project on solar cells.
So we devised an experiment to see if reflecting light with a mirrow would increase power
output. We constructed a circuit using an amp-meter, solar cell, and 10Kohm resistor.
He hypothesized that reflecting sun...

Hi,
On various websites I read that 70% of the heat loss of a pool is by evaporation, whereas up to 85% of the solar radiation can heat an uncovered pool.
We use 22mm thick black color EPE panels to cover our pool.
On a sunny day, is it better to cover the pool or to leave it uncovered ...

Hello
I am currently building DIY solar panel.I have a problem regarding the build up of the panel.
My question is can I attach the cells on to a normal transperant glass of about 5mm thick by a transperant silicon? My concern is if the cell will break or not, by the outer environment ...
Hi everyone,
i'm looking for a website that can show me how the solar system was in place the minute i was born. November 6, 1982 6:32 a.m.
I found this website but i don't know how precise it is.

What is the biggest hurdle for building a space based solar power system?
is it the cost? All the space faring countries can come together and launch each part separately and then assemble them together just like the ISS right?
Is it the transmission of power from the satellite to...
Forgive my noobness and possibly the wrong forum selection.
As we live within collecting distance of an energy abundant star, would it not be possible to harness that energy, through delicately polished mirrors mounted on satellites and then direct those satellites at a few key points around...
Has anyone figured out or tried this:
It seems to me that since light is bent by G fields, that looking close enough to the side of a black hole, some of that light near the event horizon may have escaped its G field after its trajectory has changed significantly... possibly redirected enough...
Hi !
Somewhere I read about our solar system is going slowly out of our galaxy (moving backward from the center, but then I can also read our solar system is approaching center with sonic speed. So how is our solar system actually moving toward the centre of milky way (beside rotation around...
For a science project, I plan to come up with a reliable way to produce clean water from the sun. I've toyed with ideas of using fresnel lenses and parabolic concentrators, but none of them solved all the problems I had.
Then, I thought of using multiple—and when I say multiple I mean about...
What if you had a laser solar sail and in front

now in many houses, there are solar water heaters
the problem is that, what is the highest possible temperature reachable using the sunlight?
another problem is, what if the sunlight is replaced with a laser light?
I want to maximize solar cell efficiency regardless of the sun's angle and so I've been looking at placing Compound Parabolic Concentrator (CPC) over the top of a high efficiency round solar cell. If I come up with a good design then I would like to try and manufacture some of them to see if I...

I have a question about the effects of solar and lunar tides. I know that the effect of lunar tides is twice that of solar. However when I calculated the force of gravity of the Sun on the EArth vs the Moon on Earth using F=GmM/r^2 the force due to the Sun was much greater. Can anyone help me...

For years I have accepted the common wisdom that "the elements making up the Earth are 4.5 bn years old, therefore the Earth is 4.5 bn years old."
But, upon thinking on this during Professor Brian Cox's excellent program about the evolution of things and the fact that the solar system is...

Could someone give me advice on this project?
Thank you very much.
I am having my home evaluated by a SunRun, Home Depot and bpsolar consortium. There was a booth in a Home Depot store in NJ.

One of the all-time great science mysteries is now a step closer to explanation. The surface of the sun, known as the photosphere, can reach temperatures of 5,000 degrees. To many it would seem logical that the temperature would lower further away from the sun. But, the outer atmosphere, known...
Hi.
During daytime sea water having poor solar reflectivity remains warmer than the air.
But at times, water has also been found to be colder than air, with the difference being 5-10 degrees C.
Can anyone please justify how could that be possible?
Hi.
Can anyone please tell me what would be the solar absorptivity of a steel plate painted black?
Steel has got solar absorptivity of 0.65, and black paint is around 0.97.
So what will be the cumulative effect of this? Is taking average of them a logical step?
