How Are Black Holes Formed?

Click For Summary
Black holes are formed from the remnants of massive stars that undergo gravitational collapse after exhausting their nuclear fuel. For those new to astronomy, resources like Cornell University's "Curious About Astronomy" and Georgia State University's "Hyperphysics" offer accessible explanations and visual aids on the topic. Additionally, Wikipedia serves as a comprehensive starting point for understanding black holes and related concepts. These resources provide foundational knowledge for anyone interested in the formation and characteristics of black holes. Exploring these sites can enhance understanding of this complex astronomical phenomenon.

Hello,

I want to understand how black holes are formed. I don't have any idea of basic astronomy. Can anybody please guide me to a resource centre which gives the basic idea of astronomy.

Thanks and regards,

Cornell Uni's "Curious About Astronomy" website is a great way to learn about all kinds of astronomy-related subjects, including black holes:

Probably the best site for a layman. The FAQ section is especially informative.

Georgia State Uni's "Hyperphysics" provides nice mind-map approach to learning, with subjects covering most of the current physics:

Finally, wikipedia my friend, wikipedia.
