Cell is a multi-core microprocessor microarchitecture that combines a general-purpose PowerPC core of modest performance with streamlined coprocessing elements which greatly accelerate multimedia and vector processing applications, as well as many other forms of dedicated computation. It was developed by Sony, Toshiba, and IBM, an alliance known as "STI". The architectural design and first implementation were carried out at the STI Design Center in Austin, Texas over a four-year period beginning March 2001 on a budget reported by Sony as approaching US$400 million. Cell is shorthand for Cell Broadband Engine Architecture, commonly abbreviated CBEA in full or Cell BE in part.
The first major commercial application of Cell was in Sony's PlayStation 3 game console, released in 2006. In May 2008, the Cell-based IBM Roadrunner supercomputer became the first TOP500 LINPACK sustained 1.0 petaflops system. Mercury Computer Systems also developed designs based on the Cell.
The Cell architecture includes a memory coherence architecture that emphasizes power efficiency, prioritizes bandwidth over low latency, and favors peak computational throughput over simplicity of program code. For these reasons, Cell is widely regarded as a challenging environment for software development. IBM provides a Linux-based development platform to help developers program for Cell chips.
Good day everyone,
So I have a spare solar panel that has been laying around and I want to put it to use. Its a small panel, about 8"X12". The specs read 8 Watts and 17 Volts
I was thinking of maybe making a solar charger for phones and other 5VDC USB devices.
I bought a 5VDC regulator kit...

Hello,
Suppose sinosodial AC and pulsed DC magnetic fields with equal rms are applied on animal cells in the presence of magnetic nanoparticles. For the mean field strengths to be equal, the peak value of the square wave (with 50% duty cycles) must be sqrt. 2, which means that the maxiumum...

A number of my relatives believe that radiation from cell phones is dangerous. After doing a bit of reading, I've found that the general scientific consensus is that this is not the case, and I myself don't see how low power, low frequency, non-ionising radiation can cause e.g. brain tumours -...
Consider two adjacent people speaking in cell phones. Why the signals don't interfere with one another? Does each phone communicate with a distinct frequency? If so, how?
So I have an old flip phone here that I wanted to turn into a portable battery pack because its winter break and I am bored. Whole thing is apart and good to go but I was wondering if there is any way to reverse the current. Obviously charging it one way, and then when you use it as a battery...
If a B cell contains two mu chains and two lambda chains and is self reactive can it go back and rearrange its kappa light chains? I'm not sure if it can only try to rearrange its lambda light chains or if it can go back and try to rearrange kappa chains as well.

As I know, when a string of solar cells connected in series, if one of the cell is shaded, it will be reverse bias due to current mismatch and the voltage can be very high, say, 20V. But in short circuit condition, the overall voltage should be zero, if other cells are in forward bias, how can...
If electrons always flows from an area of high density to low density, why is it necessary for the ions in a cell to flow across the electrolyte as well. It seems that charge should be able to flow from the anode to the cathode without the need of these ions flowing as well. Why are these two...

I'm wondering about the importance of the electrolytic solution in an electrochemical cell.
For example, we have Zn/ZnSO4 and Cu/CuSO4.
According to the electrochemical series, Zn will reduce Cu, and we will have a reaction.
Zn(s) -> Zn2+(aq), Cu2+(aq) -> Cu(s).
So there MUST be Cu2+ in the...

Hi,
I am wondering as to how to define the boundary condition for a shape in a unit cell. Just imagine that the shape is the hole for the unit cell. Hence, for a constant thickness on the untextured boundary, thickness is, let's say C, then for the circle, it's C+depth.
For example for...
