Would anyone here recommend attending chemistry (high school) summer class online?
My high school freshman wants to go to summer school, but it conflicts with marching band; therefore, she plans to take the class online.
I suggest she takes world history, but she thinks it will be too much...
Ill be a 3rd-yr physics student next year, and due to course conflicts, Ill have to study one of these three math classes on my own (ie, without going to lectures). Which of these would be more useful for theoretical physics (probably in String, LQG and the likes):
Analysis III - Real...
Last night there was a story on the local new about gas prices. During it they mentioned that some people have taken to putting nitrogen in their tires rather than air because they thought that it would improve their gas milage.
The logic behind this? Apparently they believe... now get...
OK, I have a question regarding this homework that I have to complete about power and airspeed.
I have a beech bonanza v-tailed aircraft and I need to calculate rate of climb in ft/min with a True airspeed of 110 knots. (110 knots = 185.7 ft/s)
I am using R/C= (excess power)/weight My...
I am trying to get a jump on picking classes for next semester, I do not want a repeat of what happened to me last time (I waited about a week too long and I couldn’t get any of the classes/time I wanted).
My problem comes when trying to choose a math class. Now that I have Calculus II...
Hello everyone;
I've been reading a document over on Apple's Developer website, called "The Object-C Language."
I'm reading about classes, and there is a part called "Initializing a Class Object" and it gives an example of how to implement an initialize method for a class:
+ (void)...
Would it be wrong if I dropkicked my stat professor in the head?
This guys not teaching us jack @$%*! We have had 4 lectures as of tomorrow, and he has already assigned us three chapters. Chapter 1 is 51 pages, chapter 4 is 108 pages, and chapter 2 is 104 pages. He just shows some...
Well, I'm taking a Philosophy course because it is required to take some humanities and what not, so I chose this course because I thought it would be most beneficial and fun.
Sadly, I was right! It is fun, and I enjoy every class. I might not do well, but I like it.
We are currently...
My Nuclear Physics class this semester is using the textbook my professor wrote. It is out of print, and with good reason. Can anyone recommend a suitable undergraduate Nuclear Physics textbook which covers most of the basics at a reasonably advanced level? Looking at the usenet booklist Krane...
I wrote this class that works with a consol application. I'm sure you could add this to any other one of your programs like MFC applications. The way it works is takes in a whole string of garbage. any size, to an extent. this is not a string array. uses the include file <string>.
For example...
My physics class rules.
Reasons:
1: It's not a "school-required class", Which means that the speed of learning is adequate for not ripping my hair out in disgust. However, it IS a collegebound-required course, so I still have quite a few potential dropouts. Lucky for me, 5 kids've...
Hello all:
I am new to the forum and I am in my first engineering Physics class as well as Calc 3. I hope that I can help any of you in the future.
Hope to help/get help from some peers.
Thanks!
I recently did a presentation on autism for a class I had.
Here are some interesting articles I found on it:

Hi, we did a small respiration task in class and now I need to calculate a few things.
I placed a bottle of NaOH in another bottle, together with a bottle of yeast and glucose. I did the same with another bottle, but without the yeast/glucose. Amount of glucose 0.2g.
Now I need to...
So I'm on my school's debate team. The topic we're preparing for is stated as the following: "Resolved: In the United States, public high school science curriculum should include the study of the Theory of Intelligent Design." This is my case affirming the resolution, I'm arguing ID should be...
I have to design a beam for my Materials Class design project to be tested on a univ. bending machine. We have to be within 2.5" by 5" in max size, and 24" long. I wrote a MATLAB prog to calculate every possible configuration to optimize what sizes to pick for a block, a T beam and an I beam...
Let n be a positive integer and suppose f is continuous on [0,1] and f(0) = f(1). Prove that the graph of f has a horizontal chord of length 1/n. In other words, prove there exists x \in [0,(n - 1)/n] such that f(x+1/n) = f(x)
Hi,
Has anyone here used the complex C++ class before Header <complex>? I am trying to do something VERY straightforward but there doesn't seem to be any way to do it!
Basically, I define a complex, and then want to re-asign its real and imaginary parts:
complex<double> A(1,1); //...
My class just had our 10 year reunion. I'm trippin on how different and aged everyone looks. I mean the kids still hasn't all gone inside of me and I look at people I haven't seen since '96 and it's scaring me. I still have slear memories but a gap between then and now.
Like everyone older...
If B - A = 1,
Then
A^2 + A + B = B^2.
Good for figuring out an exponent next to one you know.
Example:
You know 50^2 is 2500, but need 49^2.
B^2(2500) - B(50) - A(49) = B^2(2401).
Make sense?
Useful, useless, w/e?
I have this assignment from writing class that needs me to interview successful college students.
Help I don't have time to do interview... can you guys give me some answers?!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
1 WHEN DO YOU EXPECT TO GRADUATE AND WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR?
2 WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION...
Yes. Who can honestly in their right mind every say they enjoyed taking IA? No wonder there is always a demand for analytical chemists in industry- its so boring probably no one ever wants to do it. ::sigh:: i just have to vent because I hate this class so much.
So, I just got this test back today...75.
The avg was a 59 and the guy gave us a 10 pts curve so I got an 85, which is a B. Problem is, our teacher is a grad student (teaching a 300 level class) and I don't really like him. I lost 22 pts on one problem for doing a dumb mistake. I know it was...
Hey how are ya? I'm new to physics and all that I took a class in school and it blew me away! A lot of questions are popping up that my teacher can't answer. My first one is,according to him, pretty deep. Here it is; what is gravity? I mean what is it ? How does it work. I understand that it is...
Reading in a book called Introduction To Neuropsychology by J. Graham Beaumont, I found this symptom of a certain kind of parietal lobe damage that I'd never heard of before:
"Apraxia
Certain apraxias (the loss of intentional movements) may arise from parietal lesions. These may occur in...
Mixture problem example: You need parts of a 30% chlorine and 55% chlorine mixture to make 100 gallons of a 40% chlorine. mixture.
To figure out what the ratio of 30 to 55 is: 55% - 40% = 15 parts needed of 35% mixture, 40% - 30% = 10 parts of 50% mixture.
15 parts of 30% reduces to 3...
I am currently enrolled in Physics 111 (at a university) without prior experience with the material. In high school, I chose to take biology classes instead of physics, which in retrospect was a mistake. I find physics very, very interesting and I am very intrigued. I feel like physics is the...
I always want to talk some with my profs about things beyond the scope of the course, but I am shy, and worry they will feel I'm wasting their time.
Do you guys tend to do this very often?
complex analysis-- Oscillation/vibration class
Hello all,
I'm taking a wave/vibration/oscillation class, and we're delving into complex notation for these.
One of our assigments dealt with a complex function that we didn't get a whole lot of practice out of in math methods.
I've gone back...
Next week in my multivariable class, we'll be starting curvature, and, nerd that I am, I looked ahead to learn it ahead of time. I can usually at least understand the basics of a new concpet by myself, but curvature really threw me off. Maybe my brain's not right for it, maybe the book sucks...
I am mathematics major and I am considering withdrawing from 1 course this semester. My concern is how does having a Withdrawal on my transcripts look to graduate schools? I plan to go to graduate school for mathematics when I am done with my degree.
I could stay in the course but I would...
I am currently buying a laptop for my first ChemE class and I have settled on an HP I was wondering what feedback or comments other people might have. The notebook I'm ordering has all the most up to date ports (tv, firewire, USB 2.0, etc.) I ordered it with a MD Turion(TM) 64 ML-34...
Ok I am enrolled in this Math class called "Transition to advanced mathematics". It has basically a LOT of proofing and set theory and such. Now of course, since i went through the whole modern day education system where you memorize this, memorize that, don't question this for the AP test... I...
Lately I've gotten an interest in physics. Theoretical Physics in particular, string theory, parallel universes, anything to do with things like that.
Well, I would like to learn a lot more about physics, and perhaps even get a career in it. But, I don't know whether or not I should just...
Just Graduated last week with a 1st Class Honours in Physics.
I also got awarded a prize with my laboratory partner for best laboratory project for that year in the School of Physics... so I'm pretty happy.
Now I've got to get a job, hopefully in something with some relation to Physics...
Hello
I am a teachers assistant for a one week summer camp class entitled "Time Space and Einstein" and are in ideas for demonstratiosn for the class. The class consists of students going into 6-8th grade. Anything that you think could keep the attention of kids who don't like equations or...
Has anyone taken a an undergraduate course in plasma physics? If so, what text did you use and how did you like it? I need a text for plasma physics because:
1) I'm taking the course next semester and the professor doesn't use a textbook and he's also apparently a horrible teacher, so I'm...
Okay...I have to decide today (due to uncontrollable circumstances) amongst the following classes: Digital Fundamentals, AutoCad Drafting class, or Introduction to C Programming.
Which would make me more valuable to employers looking for an intern? Digital Fundamentals deals with truth tables...
What is the difference between class and set? I have seen statements like "Let M be a class of subsets of X...", and it seems to me we can still do everything we like as though M is a set, and we are just avoiding the word "set" and replace it with "class". I am aware of the paradox "the set of...
I am a dental student. I have noticed that dentists tend to say that Class III levers (eg. the human mandible) are "the least efficient type of lever." I told my friends that this was incorrect, because there is no more inherent energy loss in a Class III lever than I or II.
The next day my...
I have to do a demonstration to show convection in class.
I was wondering what could be a simple experiment to set up in which I could show that convection exists. I've had a few ideas and am wondering if you could come up with any. :shy:
Thanks,

I actually join an evening class to study about drugs, and today a classmate asked me to explain how our immune system reacted when we took some medicines to cure fever, for example.
You know, I am not young any more, and it is really shameful if I told that young pretty lady that I knew...
Hey there! I need to make a battery powered dragster for my physics class! Here are so requirements...
Only AA batteries, but any number is allowed.
Only commercial motor and gears are permitted.
Everything else on the car must be materials not meant for their use (ex. car wheels must not...
I was going to take Differential Equations in the coming fall but decided to take it over the summer. I now need to take something else in the fall and I can't make a decision.

hello. i have to build a "quake tower" for my high school physics class. it must be made from bolsa wood and be able to hold something like 10 pounds and be put on a vibrating table and not collapse. has anyone ever done a project like this before? do you recommend any specific designs? any...
I am taking linear algebra right now, honours version. and i wonder if it is considered a real math course, i.e. is it really abstract or not, or is it like the baby stuff? i.e. the teacher gave in class a proof by induction that eigenvectors from distinct eigenvalues are independent. and so...
I have not gone to my math class in 3 weeks. Just got out of the midterm, professor handed out answer sheets. I passed with flying colors. This should not be possible. Between this midterm and the last one i have not gone to class once, and i spent about an hour reviewing last night. Really...
