A design is a plan or specification for the construction of an object or system or for the implementation of an activity or process, or the result of that plan or specification in the form of a prototype, product or process. The verb to design expresses the process of developing a design. In some cases, the direct construction of an object without an explicit prior plan (such as in craftwork, some engineering, coding, and graphic design) may also be considered to be a design activity. The design usually has to satisfy certain goals and constraints, may take into account aesthetic, functional, economic, or socio-political considerations, and is expected to interact with a certain environment. Major examples of designs include architectural blueprints, engineering drawings, business processes, circuit diagrams, and sewing patterns. The person who produces a design is called a designer, which is a term generally used for people who work professionally in one of the various design areas—usually specifying which area is being dealt with (such as a fashion designer, product designer, web designer or interior designer), but also others such as architects and engineers. A designer's sequence of activities is called a design process, possibly using design methods. The process of creating a design can be brief (a quick sketch) or lengthy and complicated, involving considerable research, negotiation, reflection, modeling, interactive adjustment and re-design.
hey guys
For the last year, I've been learning and working in solidworks, mainly youtube videos, reading tutorials, manuals and solidworks support . But I don't know when you reach "PRO"
What (else) Can I do to improve my solidworks skills.
Recently I've started to investigate Spacesuit Design and different aspects of it. I was just wondering if anyone could provide me with some preliminary books or websites that I could use to get my research going, I would greatly appreciate it.
P.S If my post is in the wrong forum just tell...
anyone know what the metal fin-like structures are?
i see these on a lot of LED bulbs. they look like heat sinks but if conventional bulbs don't need heat sinks why would an LED bulb need one? besides! i thought the conductivity of semiconductors was proportional to temp.
Hello everyone,
I have a few projects in mind that call for various sized solenoids. I have been experimenting with various gauges of magnet wire, however, every time the battery is connected, it gets too hot to hold. with that being said, is there a way to calculate how...

Hi
I had a neat idea for a relay design, basically its a relay that takes very tiny movements to open/close a circuit, I.e. I can make a 10 micron movement to create/close a 1mm gap very easily and in a small package (3mm by 10mm by 20mm say) and with a fairily large contact area (for that size...

Hello. I'm trying to design a AC to DC LED driver with PWM dimming. I have a design that I can use with the LM3406HV but I would like to design something that I can wire up 110V AC mains line. With the LM3406HV I need a DC power supply. I was thinking about using a switching power supply but if...
I believe artillery guns and barrels that are highly pressurised often use shrink fitting (heating up a tube causing it to expand allowing it to be fitted over a smaller tube which it will apply an inward pressure on when it cools) to oppose the pressure from inside the barrel. Could this...
Hey guys,
I have been trying to design a constant current source that has a digitally controllable (μcontroller) range of maximum current outputs. Ideally the source would be able to be adjusted from .25mA to 2mA. The input voltage for the source would be in the range of 9 to 14 volts. Also I...
