Hi,
I am not a student from the US so i was not used to a Science Fair, I am not too certain of what it is(besides having a project that proves something).
Any tips on something i could use for the fair?
I am really into Quantum, Theoretical Physics and Astronomy.
Thanks for any input.
Hi, I'm Irish and I'm doing my leaving cert and we have to compile a "design folio" on our project. I was just wondering what kind of chapters I should include after the first four which are: Introduction, Analysis of brief, Investigation of solutions and Criteria for selection of solutions. We...
Any tips for the WORST public speaker in the world? Why, just today I had to get up in the front of a class and speak on a "mysterious" subject, I started and then looked into the wave of staring faces and my words just got garbled.. Weird sounds, misplaced words, came flowing out of my mouth...
so I need to show that Z(n) := ((a^n + b^n))^(1/n), show that the limit of Z(n) = b, given 0 < a < b.
been going back and forth and can't think of anything, but here are some random thoughts.
-basically, if I look at this in terms of definition, it is saying to show that |Z(n) - b | <...
How to improve FM radio reception? I have this boombox type radio in my room with one meter long telescopic antenna, reception is sometimes really bad. Should I just hook up length of wire to the antenna or what ?
Thanks. :smile:
I'm starting my first year of calculus at high school (grade 12 academic). I am wondering whether those of you with experience can suggest tips on doing well in this course. Any hints available would be very helpful (the most important skills as an example). Thank you.
Ok, I failed the first semester of my physics class, but my teacher says that if we take the AP Physics B exam and get a 3 or better, he'll give us an A. Anyone suggest any books, or any tips on how to start? I'm starting from scrap, because I really don't know anything.
Does anyone have any tips on how to make/build a mouse trap car, with the mouse trap being the only source of energy? I have an idea of what it should look like, and how it should work, but I'm really not sure. Is there any helpful hints that I might need while building my project for my physics...

Hey peeps,
I'll be taking diff-eq next quarter, and I was wondering what I need to do to prep myself for it. I am currently in Vector Calc, but I was wondering what are some things I should practice so I can hit the ground running when the class starts.
Thanks in Advance,

Can I make conducting paper/carbonized paper on my own for use in in an undergrad EM lab? Are there alternatives for experiments that help learn field mapping? How can I rig up and electrolytic tank that may serve my purpose?
I know this isn't exactly an English forum, but many of the members here do know quite a bit about English and reading. I find that when I'm reading something I automatically start hearing the words in my head. I feel this is slowing down my reading speed, is there any way for me to start...
Hey. I am having trouble with this question:
What is the standard enthalpy change for the production of hydrogen from methane and steam: CH4(g) + H2O(g) -> CO(g) + 3H2(g)
2C(s) + O2(g) -> 2CO(g) Hc= -221.0 kJ
CH4(g) + 2O2(g) -> CO2(g) + 2H2O(g) Hc= -802.7 kJ
CO(g) + H2O(g) -> CO2(g)...

Newton's method gives an approximation to a root r of the equation f(x)=0 . From an initial approximation x_1 we obtain successive approximations x_2 , x_3 , \ldots , where
x_{n+1} = x_n - \frac{f(x_n)}{f^{\prime}(x_n)}
Use Taylor's Inequality with n=1 , a=x_n , and...
Hi,
I have a major test next week and some questions will be on epsilon and delta proofs. From the homework I have done, these epsilon and delta proofs can be applied anywhere and in any scenario. Therefore, I was wondering do you guys have any tips on handling and solving these questions...
Those things scare me.
A lot.
They look tame and not so im-proper when you only evaluate the integral and take the limit... then you see that section in your texts titled " Comparison of improper integrals."
I've looked at a few google links but all problems still seem so different...
I plan to move out of the house and get my own place in January (if not sooner) and I was just wondering what you guys think I should be looking out for in a place, so I don't get bowled over by salesmans speak and lingo. Bear in mind that I will probably be looking out for a one bedroomed...
I was just wondering, since i m kind of weak in doing proofs, what is the best way of understanding on how to do proofs. What is the best way to master, if one can, on doing proofs? or even if not master, but to be able to do proofs without "thinking", like sometimes my teacher says he just does...
It is obvious that on this forum there are a lot of very knowledgeable people. So I want to ask the big question...how do you do physics and math. I know it sounds like a dumb question but I do good in my physics and math class quzies but how come on the exams(i don't do bad) but its not...
This is my first year of physics . On the first day my professor had already told us that we would be learning physics differently than any other class we would be taking. I had been able to zoom through all of my other classes like econ, pysch, english, math, chem, bio etc. For physics however...
I want to build a tesla coil for my school's science fair. Is there some way you can make the Tesla coil safe and not extremely dangerous and deadly? I don’t want to kill myself :eek: ! Does anyone have any tips or advise?
~Thanks
I will be majoring in electrical engineering, and have a couple questions. I've heard a lot about how the classes are extremely tedious, difficult, boring, and time consuming. anyone have any opinions there?
also i would like to know what some of you did with your degrees. thanks
my friend and i recently made a flame thrower that was posted on other forums. it has a tank made from pvc that we pressurize to 80psi, the tank connects to a hose, through a vacuum breaker, through more hose, to a gun made from 1.5in. metal pipe. the gun has a valve where you can open it to...

When I go swimming (or rather walk in the water; I can't swim but I can pretend :redface: ), I like to try to swim under water and when I try, I can't. Why? Because I only stay under for a few seconds and float right back up again. I took a swimming class once, and the teacher couldn't figure...
It seems I suffer from this a good bit. I can recite my entire textbook and even teach the entire book, but during test, I just can't remember anything. For example, I've made A's on all of my quizzes thus far in Calculus I; however, on my first test last week, I made a 54 (F). My professor knew...

My intro to digital system teacher is hard. He gives question that ask u design circuit such as make a counter that count 3 5 9 0 3 using mod-6 counter + encoder + decoder. Do question like this have a systematic way of solving or is only solvable if u have mad experience? He seems to give...
one of my calc assignments asks me to graph the derivative of a graph which can be seen here: http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~cjjacob/images/fifth.jpg
i already know that when there's a cusp on the graph, the derivative of that point is at zero and that slope determines how the derivative acts...
I've got a friend who lives on a military base. The base has a firewall that blocks out a ton of stuff and such so I was wondering if anyone knew something that could bypass this firewall. I remeber someone had http tunnel client a while back and that worked but you have to pay for that.
