Hey everyone,
I am a CS major, and part of my curriculum has me taking 2 sequences in various sciences. Initially I wanted to do physics & chemistry. I ended up taking Physics I, but am unable to take Physics II next semester due to scheduling conflicts; thus this summer I am taking the first...
Hey guys,
I have something to say, is not a question, i just want some guidelines about me college experience.
Here is some background info:
Currently, i am working 40 hours a week (Monday-Friday) and lectures in
college at night (Electric Engineering), 18 hours a week with 4 subjects...
I found one example how to write papers etc. http://www.ncl.ac.uk/students/wdc/learning/
Is it still something like this?
Is it something more oriented to physics?
Hi Community,
I have the following question:
I have done basic solving of limits and also of Riemann sums but never had to do them in the same question.
Would I be correct in saying that I need to solve for the Riemann sum first then take the limit of the integral?
Cheers Nemo
I am a newer tutor and trying to deal with a couple issues. How do you approach students who 1)frequently make mistakes (negative signs, etc) and 2) think they understand something but didn't do well on the test of that material
I am planning on doing a huge self-studying over geometry and hopefully a little bit a trigonometry session over the summer at my public library. Over at a friends house, I see that he has a book about "algebra 2 for dummies" in his pile of science books and it got me wondering, are the "For...
Hey guys I am writing here because I know this is a big community and I could really use some advice. I am 27 about to graduate from school with a business degree and a GPA of 2.9. I'm embarrassed to say it but it's the truth.

I go to a very small school with only ~8 graduates per year. Of those 8, 4 or 5 will apply to graduate school, and every year only 1 or so will be accepted.
I'm preparing to approach the chair of the department to propose a one-hour seminar every year (or semester) to...

Hello everyone,
I am a first year university student studying astrophysics. I have a question regarding test-taking. I've noticed this year that during exams I tend to leave a lot of marks on the page. That is to say, I study thoroughly and devote a lot of time to doing so, but when it comes to...
Hi! Yes, I know that faster-than-light travel is impossible. But please stay with me for a while to help me understand this. Let's imagine we take some unobtainium and build a 12-km-radius propeller, attached to an engine able to accelerate it up to 250,000 rpm (like a turbocharger, or not a few...
Every math major eventually learns logic and standard proof techniques. For example, to show that a rigorous statement P implies statement Q, we suppose the statement P is true and use that to show Q is true. This, along with the other general proof techniques are very broad. A math major would...
Do you have any tips for getting high marks on AP Physics Tests and getting a high score on the AP Physics Exam. For example, you may know material that can help you while doing the course.

Hi all,
I'm a freshman that's about to begin my second semester taking 3 technical courses and 1 gen-ed course. I've gotten accustomed to studying for math and science classes in university, but I have to take this non-western gen-ed (and due to scheduling conflicts with my main 3 classes, I'm...

Anybody knows how to remove the star?
I forgot when I unintentionally put that star, now I want to remove it. But I can't. Some websites suggest by inserting some HTML (or Java script? Can't tell the difference) script. Is there an easy way withouth signing off google?
Thanks...
Hi, I have 0 background in engineering nor robotics. I have a project requiring both, so if you can help at all or give good feedback that would be very appreciated.
The true reason behind my project is a bit secretive for me, purely because I think it’s a smart idea and I don’t want the idea...
There seems to be enough of us night owls who use DSS for me to open a discussion about how to 'tune' all of the parameters to get an optimal result. Personally, I've used the program for a few years but still have no clue about many of the settings, and would appreciate any insight. First...
Hello,
I was recently given the opportunity to stay at Berkeley for 6months as a visiting scholar during the next spring semester. I would like to know if anyone has been living in the region and ask a few questions.
Where is it better to live and what is the best way to find a share...

Hello all!
I've been on and off this forum for a little bit now.

Expanding the series to the n^{th} derivative isn't so hard, however I'm having trouble with the summation. Any tips for the summation?
e.g. taylor series for sinx around x=0 in summation notation is \sum^\infty_{n=0} \frac{x^{4n}}{2n!}
Thanks.

I'm not exactly where a question like this would belong, so I am going to try here. It feels like as we go higher in our courses, we're expected to be able to work with more complicated equations. One example would be a problem involving transmission reflection ratios for...

I just want to know the correct mathematical workings of why the box will tip over when distance x of the normal force from the center line is b/2.

hi everyone,
I have seen this phenomenon many times. People who used to be fascinated about physics no longer love physics anymore because of the stress/classes/jobs. One of my friend has had this issue and I had this also a while ago and it is coming back up.
