A secondary school describes an institution that provides secondary education and also usually includes the building where this takes place. Some secondary schools provide both lower secondary education (age 12 to 15) and upper secondary education (age 15 to 18) i.e. levels 2 and 3 of the ISCED scale, but these can also be provided in separate schools, as in the American middle and high school system. In the UK, elite public schools typically admit pupils between the ages of 13 and 18. UK state schools accommodate pupils between the ages of 11 to 18.
Secondary schools follow on from primary schools and prepare for vocational or tertiary education. Attendance is usually compulsory for students until age 16. The organisations, buildings, and terminology are more or less unique in each country.

I'm currently a junior in high school. I started taking physics this year and it is my favorite out of any class I've ever taken in my life. I really like it; my favorite classes before taking physics were just the ones that I hated the least.
Right now my GPA is really bad (like 2.8-2.9), but...
Hi all!
From time to time, I work as a math tutor. Normally this doesn't cause me any trouble, but a couple of days ago a student from an IB school came to me with this problem:
2*5(x+1) = 1 + 3/(5x). Solve for x and write the solution on the form a + log5b.
I've been trying to solve...
Hi guys, I am an high school student from italy and I am a junior.

I love most of my teachers right now in high school.
They're really helpful and make the class fun and exciting.
How are college professors?
I know that every professor differs in personality, but what are some cool experiences you've had in the college classroom?

A quick explanation for my thread - I've been a physics teacher for 10 years, but I've always wanted to learn more about stars and space. So I took two years off to study for an MSc. in Astrophysics. I'm writing my thesis on something pretty non-standard for astro nerds: I'm trying to write a...
Im currently a senior in high school and have fallen in love with the deepest mysteries of the universe. However, during my first three years of high school I slacked off, something i deeply regret. Now I am stuck with my poor GPA and I am wondering what steps i can take to pursue a career in...
"Research" as a high school student?
How would it look when applying to colleges? Will it be considered as a "boost" if you had "research" over a summer or two compared to someone who hasn't?
Note by research I am implying an internship!
Hello!
So I am in Canada, and applications for universities are due in a few months. I love music, and i also love math. I recently stumbled on a career path of Actuarial Science and i think it sounds rather cool.
I've heard about all the exams and how everything will pay off in the end...

I am just wandering how everyone studies or what good study methods are. My father tells me to read the topics the night before the lecture, then listen to the lecture carefully and then study the topic again after coming home on that day.

Hello everyone, I'm a 16 year old physics and mathematics enthusiast who's just moved to NYC, and will be getting my IB in Physics when I graduate from this new school. I do independent research heavily when I'm not doing schoolwork, and I've been wondering if there are any locations within or...
I signed up for the coaching service for the GRE and when looked through the questions I struggled with elementary number theory. What's the most efficient way to deal deal with the following kind of questions.

I am wondering how important is Physics and Chemistry (one subject, Physical Science, here in South Africa) at High School in comparison with Mathematics, if you consider going into Physics and Math at University. I am asking this, because sometimes I don't do so well (not too bad, I just miss...
Hello everyone,
Thanks for helping me in this dangerous conquest
First, let me tell you a little backround on my Math skills. I was brought up in your "average" Math school, and up until 8th grade, I took all regular classes. Basically, in my old, tiny, rural school, one had no...
This is going to be asking for a lot, but I'd be grateful for any help I can receive in my endeavor.

To kick off my first post here I will begin with a desperate plea for help and guidance: My high school is unfortunately not one of the best by any means. It is gigantic and has over 3000 students in it, meaning that most of the focus is spent on teaching students who don't give a damn about...
You paid attention during 100% of high school!
85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap!

Hi, my name is Luis and I am a High school student currently enrolled in Foothill High School.
I need to interview someone in the profession of Engineering, someone who is willing to speak face to face and discuss the advantages/disadvantages of being an engineer.
As title asks, is it possible?
I'm eventually aiming for a bachelor's in pure math with minor in philosophy/physics. I could get my master's before or after getting a job.
Thanks

Hello,
this entire site is completely new to me, but I can tell that it is currently giving me both hope and intimidation. This might seem like a long rant or a common concern among young hopeful high school students, but please don't stop reading - I've been looking around and not only do...
Hello,
First of all, I'm not sure whether this topic belongs here or in the academic guidance section -- I chose here because I think people reading this board would be more knowledgeable about the subject matter.
