A case study involves an up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of a particular case or cases, within a real-world context. For example, case studies in medicine may focus on an individual patient or ailment; case studies in business might cover a particular firm's strategy or a broader market; similarly, case studies in politics can range from a narrow happening over time (e.g., a specific political campaign) to an enormous undertaking (e.g., a World War).
Generally, a case study can highlight nearly any individual, group, organization, event, belief system, or action. A case study does not necessarily have to be one observation (N=1), but may include many observations (one or multiple individuals and entities across multiple time periods, all within the same case study). Research projects involving numerous cases are frequently called cross-case research, whereas a study of a single case is called within-case research.Case study research has been extensively practiced in both the social and natural sciences.
Hey guys!
I'm asking all the people out there if you could redo high school what are some of the things you would do to get ready for a career in science?

Hello friends ,
I pass out in year 2013 as an Electrical Engineer. Now I want to continue my ms from USA. Please suggest me best Universities for MS Programs in USA so that I can apply for it.
i really need help with studying the actuarial exams. My issue is I am not studying 'smart. and with the difficulty of the exams, studying hard won't get me through.
I passed exam P, but I studied way too hard for it; ie 1 year for 5 to 7 hours per day, 5 days per week. It ended up with me...
Hello Everyone,
I want to know if it's a good time to study string theory from the basics? Or is it wiser to wait till next year, after the 2015 LHC run, if indeed we find any evidence for it?
I have done a course in mathematical physics, classical and quantum field theory, electrodynamics and...
Hello everyone,
I have a question that seems simple at first but is "hard" for me to answer. I'm teaching a general education math course at a community college next semester, and one of the key components to that course is symbolic logic. I'm pretty confident in my knowledge and ability to...
Ever since I was about 11 years old, my dream has been to pursue a career in any scientific field whatsoever (I practically enjoy learning about all of them!). I ended up being enchanted by the magic of physics at an early age as well, thanks to my childhood heroes such as Carl Sagan, Stephen...
Hi everyone,
I haven't been successful in Discrete Math this semester. I have finished all of the calculus I-III series and I did very well. I want to know if anyone can give me some tips on how to study for my final coming up in a few days.

When someone design a complex machine or a mechanism, how do they...
I'm a grad student studying electrical/computer engineering. Since I have a month of winter break coming up soon, I want to use it to study some more about probability theory and stochastic processes. Has anyone previously done a self study or partner study over a break like this? If so, how did...
I'm a mathematics major and up until now I've taken Calc 1,2,3 (so single + multivariable) a combined course in Elementary Linear Algebra + Differential Equations and PDE's. My school doesn't offer any tensor calculus classes, but I was interested in learning some of it on my own. Do I have...
Hello! :)
This has been on my mind for quite a while. How do you guys study? I keep trying to improve my study style and I'm interested in how everyone else does it.
I've started to LaTeX my notes: writing down comments about the text, proofs of unproved statements, solutions to exercises and...
I've read a lot of posts talking about quantum consciousness, and it seems the general consensus is that it is crack, woo, psuedoscience etc. But then I found a news feed that pointed to this,
Travis John Adrian Craddock, Douglas Friesen, Jonathan Mane, Stuart Hameroff, and Jack A. Tuszynski...
Hello everyone, I am new to these forums, so if this question is in the wrong place, I will relocate it. Long story short, my school has no real physics department anymore, but I have an insatiable appetite for it. I was wondering what the next course in a physics sequence would be after...
Hello all, new poster here.
I don't want to sound like I'm ranting but I feel like I have no one else to tell.
Studying physics has been my life dream since about a year and a half ago. After a long and hard journey (college would not let me take further maths), I finally made it into a...
Hello everyone, I'm a math and philosophy double major currently in my junior year at University. So far, I've spent the better half of two years studying philosophy and have five credits to go before I complete the major (focused primarily on philosophy of science, and epistemology). This...

I am kind of curious what topics to read to understand this concept more.
Suppose I want to find a function f: A \rightarrow B, where if you look at the pre-image of any point b \in B, the size of the pre-image of b will be quite large. Essentially, I want to find functions that map from very...
Hello all!
I am carrying out the theoretical (that is, by calculation means) unsymmetrical fault calculations for three winding transformer.
