A case study involves an up-close, in-depth, and detailed examination of a particular case or cases, within a real-world context. For example, case studies in medicine may focus on an individual patient or ailment; case studies in business might cover a particular firm's strategy or a broader market; similarly, case studies in politics can range from a narrow happening over time (e.g., a specific political campaign) to an enormous undertaking (e.g., a World War).
Generally, a case study can highlight nearly any individual, group, organization, event, belief system, or action. A case study does not necessarily have to be one observation (N=1), but may include many observations (one or multiple individuals and entities across multiple time periods, all within the same case study). Research projects involving numerous cases are frequently called cross-case research, whereas a study of a single case is called within-case research.Case study research has been extensively practiced in both the social and natural sciences.
Hey guys, would you say study groups benefit everyone? I've always studied by myself and so far I'm an A+ student. Are study groups something that help everyone, or are they mostly aimed at certain mindsets?
For example, I could see the "slowest" persons of the group getting a lot out of study...

First of all, i would like to appologise if there is already a topic related to this on which i could have posted. I was not able to find it but also only skimmed through the search results.
Mathematics has not been one of strong points. In middle school i struggled with it - i didn't spend any...
Roll up, roll up, one and all! Herricane and I have this plan for working through Michael Spivak's Calculus together. I've dipped into it here and there in the past, but I thought it would do me good to go through it all in order. We've just started on the first problem set. The plan is to each...
What is the strategy to master computer science. My class is Fortran 90 based :D.
I never really took a computer science class before and I'm sure its a bit different than preparing for mathematics.
Should I study cosmology? Am I too old??
Hello eveyone,
Im 24 years old. I wasted a lot of time before. I've just finished the 1st of university. Then I left. I regreted what I've done before. Cuz I looked for wrong things all the time. Since last year, i started reading lots books about...
So I think physics is amazing and I want to study it at university.
I got 299/300 for edexcel AS physics. I am able to to about 50% of a STEP paper.
Will if find it too difficult? Because only understanding what is going on is fun. I am going to apply to the UK. After I graduate, I want to...
i want to study cosmology, and i am going to apply this year.
i am not qualified for the top 20 universities' Ph.D program, and i think i should apply some universities ranking from 30 to 100, i mean , ranking of physics, but still strong enough in theory cosmology.
however, i have no idea...
I am taking calculus based physics I (classical mechanics) in a few days. I'm shooting for 100s on my tests so I need to be diligent.
What is the best way to study classical mechanics?
What I plan to do is take notes on the chapter before lecture, and after I will do all the problems (not...
Folks,
I had an exam this morning. I thought I was pretty confident with what I learned prior to the exam.
However, once the exam started and the questions I learned or thought I learned appeared, I started getting blanks. I couldn’t remember how to start the question, then I started...
Hi
I am not in education (haven’t been for the past 30+ years) and I don’t know any physicists. I have called the local college but they said they are too busy.
(asked in the physics section as my study is the physics of weather / ice - I hope this is OK)
I have been working, for the...
The attached PDF shows an analysis sequence of books on the left. If I followed the sequence all the way to differential geometry, would I be prepared to study the subject of general relativity? Also, would it be feasible to skip the real analysis books or would they be required as well...
The main textbook for my calculus course is much easier to grasp than Spivak's,
and I may be in risk of getting behind the class, as I take much more time in each subject when using spivak instead of the indicated book.
Then, I was thinking about solving all the exercises on spivak which...

I have the chance to do an independent study on CS this semester, and I'm here for suggestions. Since it's only high school, and the teacher has no CS knowledge, I can get away with studying anything from learning a library and making a small project with it to working on my hobby kernel. The...
Hi,
I'm studying Calculus II and was wondering how do you know when you have mastered a certain topic and should go on to the next one? I don't think I ever really got the hang of knowing when. Should you just solve every single problem in the book or what? How do you know when you have...
(there is a tl;dr version a bit further down if you're feeling lazy. I don't want to bore you, but I do want an accurate representation of what I know and what I intend to learn. It's not very impressive, but it is accurate as far as I can tell.)
I've been researching all the different...
Hello,
I am a second year undergraduate studying maths and mechanical engineering, and am considering my post-graduation prospects.
One such prospect is joining the (US) navy as an engineer. This is not set in stone, but it is a possibility. The program I am looking at entails a 5 year...
What is the study of higher dimensions called? What I'm referring to are hyper cubes and such. I finished basic math this past year (calc123, ode and linear alg) and I really want to learn the calculus of higher dimensions. Does a field like this exist?
Hi, so as many of you who are in 3rd year or so know, the PGRE is coming this October and November.. exciting times.. So from what I have heard, there are barely any exclusively PGRE-prep books.. Hence I look forward to some input on what kind of books (in general) that would be a good idea...

I am a junior in high school, and for the past few years nuclear physics has caught my attention. Mainly Nuclear Fusion. I have done some reading on the subject and I have looked around but I am having some difficulties finding what exactly I should start with studying first. Nuclear...
Hi PF,
I'm in my second semester in chemistry, and I'm feeling that i am not getting as much physics as i would like and it's based a lot in experimental works instead of theoretical.
i want to study theoretical chemistry, but it seems like going to a physics graduation would be better and get...

I'd like to study math on my own at home so that it will make me a better student of mathematics. I am in college and have recently finished Calc II. I got an A in both calc 1 and 2 but yet I am unsatisfied with my knowledge and skill with the subject. My goal is to prepare myself for the...
Is it just to make it more likely that their creativity will make use of what computers can do? Am I correct in thinking that programming computers is not part of an electrical engineer's job description?
Study Math??
Hey guys,
I know the title may look deceiving, I'm sorry, it was bold in red
"Title (be descriptive! one/two word titles may be deleted!):"
So yea.. :)
